Every single time. I bring in an injured person, they take 30 days to recover, and then decide to have a mental breakdown as soon as they recover and burn down my entire settlement while it's getting raised.

Bullshit. You mentioned The Game, which is a loss by definition. You don't get to change the rules just because you don't like them.
The secret to winning The Game is to realize that nothing actually compels you to give a shit about The Game. It's all a bunch of arbitrary, made-up nonsense anyway, who's going to stop me from declaring myself the "winner?"
