I've been using Serbia and I get no ads but it buffers quite a bit. Have you guys found any others?
I've had an issue for a couple of months where every 5-10 minutes, seemingly at random, Mullvad just disconnects and gets stuck in a loop trying to reconnect. The temporary fix is to disconnect to stop it getting stuck, and then manually reconnecting. That fixes it for little while before it happens again. When it does reconnect, my speeds are massively reduced. I go from about 500mbps to 15mbps, and my ping skyrockets to above 2000ms.
I've tried different servers, using switching between openvpn and wireguard, turning on and off ipv6, changing the port, changing obfuscation and quantum-resistant tunnelling, but none of these options have worked.
Some hardware information:
Haven't tried running on Ethernet, would prefer to not have to run a cable from the router but I might try and see if that helps.
It's just becoming really frustrating. I've been an avid supporter of Mullvad for years, but this has been a really souring experience. Hoping that this can be resolved soon. I did a bit of searching and came across this thread on GitHub reporting this issue, but the proposed workaround doesn't really work and there hasn't been any activity or comment from the devs. Anyone else having this issue?
I have no idea how to find my Voucher or where in the world it gets sent to since it doesn't have my email address. No clue what to do I pasted in every number I the receipt, tried my payment token number and account number and I'm feeling a bit dumb right and if anyone knows what's going onnid appreciate any bit of help. And many many apologies on clogging up the reddit but I genuinely can't find any information regarding what is the Voucher and how to finnit so I can put it in.
I am a videographer traveling through China at the moment, and I have made some local friends.
They have asked to follow me on social media to see what I produce, however, I am only posting to YouTube and Instagram. Both of which are blocked here in China, along with most VPN apps.
After explaining to them, what a VPN was, I was able to install Mullvad on my Chinese friends Android phone by downloading the APK on my phone, putting it onto a USB flash drive and inserting it into his phone and installing it. The Mullvad website was blocked on his phone as well but I was able to sign him up to an account using my phone.
I have now made a new local friend who also wants to follow me on YouTube/Instagram but because they have an iPhone, I am unable to side load the Mullvad app like on android.
If I search for the app in the App Store, nothing comes up. And if I find the app on apps.apple.com it just says "app not available in your region"
Does anyone have any ideas how I can get around this?
Please help me help this local get past the Great Firewall of China
I think it’s an Amazing tool , I have super fast Internet access, So running my traffic through another Service is Ace!
It’s like Tor in a way , it’s adding another layer of security.
This is why I Love Mullvad!
Normal traffic I generate goes through Mullvad's utun
interface.
Traffic I send from VLAN 10 to VLAN 20 on my network also goes through the utun
interface. Is this expected? On the MacOS client, this is occurring, however, on the iOS client it does not appear to be happening.
Some information:
Hey everyone,
I’ve been using Mullvad VPN along with a SOCKS5 proxy in the Mullvad browser for additional IP masking, but I’m concerned about potentially exposing my DNS requests, especially if the VPN connection drops. I understand that Mullvad’s Kill Switch and Lockdown Mode should block all internet traffic if the VPN disconnects, but I’m not fully confident about how DNS requests are handled in this scenario, particularly when the SOCKS5 proxy is also in play.
I followed all the steps in the Mullvad browser extension to set it up and periodically check it to make sure that it’s all green.
However, this description on the Mullvad website makes me feel less sure of this setup:
‘The proxy provides the following:
Kill switch (DNS leaks) If you disconnect Mullvad VPN while you are connected to a proxy then the Internet traffic will be blocked in the browser. This is because you can only reach the proxy when you are connected to Mullvad VPN. However your DNS will leak when you are disconnected from Mullvad, even if you have enabled "Proxy DNS".’
This seems like a real security flaw and I’m not sure why Mullvad would be promoting the extension in that case? For instance, the internet goes down, what happens in this scenario? I’m sure I’m just not getting something…
Can anyone shed some light on this please? Thanks!
I installed the Brave browser today. I am finding Mullvad works far more quickly then it did with Firefox.
