@lemmy.worldWe had these old ass everex (I think that was the brand) 386's that had an one line 8 character display on the front that would display what drive was being accessed and what sector/track it was on. It was pretty useless, until we found the memory address that held the buffer (80h if I remember correctly. We were dumb so we wrote a TSR in turbo pascal that are random times would scroll something like "this computer is about to blow up in 5...4...3...2...1...BOOM!".
I don't think anyone really cared as it was the secondary computer lab used by the programming club mainly, but we thought we were really bad ass.

As messed up as this is, it is 100% the way parole works almost everywhere. Parole officers are not required to investigate or prove their claims.
there are some pretty good guides on how to get started with private trackers out there. the easiest route, imo, is just like it was before wcd was shut down. wcd was basically open, as long as you took your time with the interview process. once in, you follow their simple rules and you easily got access to the invite forum. from there, the private tracker world opened up for you.
same goes today, except what has been replaced with another music tracker that operates pretty much the same way.
I clicked to join the discord and it said the invite had expired.
Edit: nevermind... I guess I tried to join while logged out. Oops.
