@fedia.ioAny sort of micromobility device should not be cheaped out on: Avoid any RNG type companies like Engwe or Fidoo or Gotraxx or whatever because if something malfunctions at 20+ mph you could be killed or left with life altering injuries.
I know this first hand after Engwe sold me an ebike with faulty fenders, still recovering and I don't know if I'll ever fully heal or not.
It doesn't necessarily have to be the most famous high end brand, but don't go with no-name companies that will leave you twisting in the wind if their questionable design choices leave you with serious injuries. Get something quality from an established brand with a proven track record of taking care of their customers. No idea who this company is or if they're any good, use your best judgement I guess.
I was more of a Palm guy back then, but I picked up a Droid after getting sick of Palm fucking up their new OS and cheaping out on their flagships. They could have been great, but they chose to be shit because they took too many shortcuts and fought too much internally. Design/interface wise, the Pre and PalmOS were brilliant - way ahead of their time.
I've read reports of the decks catching on the ground and sending the rider flying. I've already had that experience with a sketchy ebike fender so I don't care to repeat the experience. That said, they do look fun.
Never just one source, ever. For specific resources, newswires can be more or less good. I'll often also use some sort of news aggregators like news.google.com as well as forums like Mbin and Lemmy to initially hear about things - if I want to go digging them I start checking out different resources.
