@lemmy.worldWait out - When the Asus Zenfone drop this Thursday. Top tier specs with a great camera.
OnePlus 8 Pro - Running Stock 13.1 Oxygen OS.
Sadly will have to go back to my college days and start rooting again. Something clean and stable for p[ractical use. However this will be my last OnePlus, and that coming from a guy who had the O+2, O+5, O+7TPro and 8 Pro.
Ill be looking towards downsizing, the Asus Zenfone 10 is what I'm looking at. Ill finally have a decent camera, unlike the potato One+ uses.
Manufacturers have options to coat the boards in a rubber-like coating - this makes it much less likely to short out, if it gets wet. Like stated above, that with used in conjunction with gaskets, these devices are pretty darn watertight even with replaceable/removable batteries.
The rooted community often supports devices longer if the device is popular. Check out XDA. A ROM may be available so that the dev sends out the monthly security patches. Ill be doing this with my OP 8Pro, as Oxygen 14 won't be available.
About bloody time! Devices these days are so far technically advanced, no need to upgrade every 2 years. I can hold onto a phone for easily 3-5 years. Especially with hot swap batteries!
