A massive pipeline of projects shows it’s possible to make large strides toward clean, around-the-clock energy using existing nuclear technology—if accompanied by generous financial terms, consistent state support and rigorous safety standards.
Well well well, China consistently proving that the free market is inferior time and time again.
China is building the most clean energy by far while the rest of the world flounders, makes excuses, and bans superior, cheaper Chinese technology. It's literally all Ws.
China's wins are hardly rare. I highly recommend going there and seeing for yourself. It's not expensive. If your went for a week you biggest expense would be the plane tickets. Great food, great people, high technology.
I'm a month in to a one year tour of the country and deep in the bumfuck nowhere part of the country, and yet all the creature comforts are there and travel is easy and cheap.
Although if you go for a short while I would suggest a city on the coast.
If you had to recommend one city for a one week trip to someone who only speaks English, which would you currently recommend?
Shanghai or Beijing. If you are feeling adventurous Chongqing (they are not westernised unlike Beijing and Shanghai).
That's interesting that you'd say that because personally i've always thought that if i ever go to China it would definitely not be to Shanghai or Beijing, at least not for my first trip.
Main reason being that Shanghai is too westernized (which is why i won't be going to HK either) and Beijing is too touristy. If i'm going to China i want to see the real China, not the parts where all the western tourists flock to. Even if i have to struggle with the language barrier.
I find that in any country it's the non-touristy parts that tend to be the most beautiful and fulfilling to visit. Also from what i've seen Beijing and Shanghai are quite expensive compared to the "smaller" cities.
In that case go for Chongqing. It's not westernised at all but it's a massive city, and it has great transport links to nearby rural areas and historical sites. You can go on a high speed train and be somewhere else in a matter of hours. It's also very cheap.
These recommendations are based of my own experience rather than any general hearsay.

What are some Ls? Western propaganda about how you can still only have one daughter but at the same time have the largest population in the world? Western propaganda about a genocide that never happened? Or the western propaganda about how Taiwan is a glorious, liberty-loving island nation that we have no imperialist ambitions over and have ties to the KMT?
I like the Ws more. 15,000+ miles of rail connecting the entirety of the country. Rapidly developing semiconductor industry that's getting ready to out-compete Nvidia, AMD and Intel. Elimination of abject poverty that we see in the United States and U.K and far more public infrastructure being built than the G5 combined. Of course, this as well with China also developing plans for a melt-down proof pebble bed reactor.

You don't even need to agree with us politicaIly to recognize that the mainstream media lies to you. One of the best ways to get an unfiltered view of another country is just to go watch some travel vlogs, and China is no exception.

Try to ignore a lot of haters here. We will dunk on each other mercilessly for a mistake in theory. Communist or liberal; the criticism never ends. That is a good thing, in my opinion. It prevents complacency and backwardness.

It makes a lot more sense now that I know what is going on on other instances. I have seen some people blocking them simply because of that aha. I often don't mind seeing content from instances like these but I found out they can be more hostile towards people who don't know much about it and make a random comment about it aha

Indeed. I find that a lot of us tend to have hostility towards outsiders. Even myself am capable of it at times. A lot of people/outsiders aren't curious or interested in the content like you and rather think they're sticking it to the "evil tankies" or leaving behind some smug comment about western propaganda they consumed. It's genuinely a 9 times out of 10 thing.
As cfgaussian said. Do stick around and learn about us. Even if you don't agree with us or have a distaste with us, you'll find yourself with a litany of new material to learn and educate yourself on outside of political theory. Simply just other perspectives, the diverse community we have here and our collective struggle.

Welcome, we sometimes get a touch defensive because folks often come in with outright hostile intentions and no desire to learn. However, most of us were probably in the same shoes as you at some point. I am not an admin here but I think I can say you would be welcome as long as you have an open-mind. We don't require people all be MLs (Marxist-Leninist, probably the most common branch of communism most of us subscribe to) necessarily.
I remember back in my social-democrat days coming across some online communist communities that I was initially dismissive of, because of all the anti-communist indoctrination I had been subjugated to all my life. A few conversations lead to reading a few books, lead to where I am now.
A nice thing is we can often criticize each other without becoming instantly defensive, because we generally realise we are all in varying degrees of learning/studying still.
