@lmorchard
@lemmy.sdf.orgYou can transfer following / follows between Mastodon accounts. You cannot currently transfer posts
IMO, that tool probably doesn't exists mainly because it'd be a thankless pain in the ass.
In general, unless you're self-hosting Mastodon, you probably mean "my Mastodon account on someone's server". And that "someone's server" probably has some moderation rules which differ significantly from Twitter. So, re-posting a bunch of tweets (i.e. "transferring") to someone's server can get hairy. Maybe some or all of your past stuff isn't copacetic with the new server - but who wants to re-litigate a sudden influx of old posts?
So, IMO, whoever writes (or uses) a tool to copy over a bunch of Twitter posts to any arbitrary Mastodon server is probably going to get yelled at a lot.
Yeah, totally. I'd also love to see like a rack of those for rent, every few blocks in my city. That'd be near perfect
Yeah, I'm a weirdo with a cargo e-bike. Love it, except when it rains or snows.
I'd love a sub-$20k street legal EV that skips the entertainment system and most other features. Just give me a weatherproof cabin with comfortable seats and a modest cargo capacity for groceries and small appliances. I'm only ever going to drive it for at most an hour around town and back. Maybe listen to a podcast from my phone. Stick solar panels on the roof and it'll probably always be topped off for how infrequently I drive. I'll rent something if I take a longer trip.
That's not a reasonable thing to expect to have to do while driving. Sounds like the "you're holding it wrong" of cars
I've kind of lurked around SDF since the mid 90s. (My first time on IRC was via SDF!) I keep meaning to participate more in the community, but my ADHD seems to give me a lack of object permanence with communities 😅
Either way, I'm glad to be reminded periodically that SDF still exists and I ponied up for a membership a few years back. The shell account comes in handy, occasionally. Glad to see new services pop up from SDF. Happy to see things still trucking along!
