Everyone I socialize with IRL is a normie for the most part. There's no way I'm going to be able to sell them on the fediverse. People want convenience and to be where everyone else is at.
Hell, the only reason I still have a fb account is because my family refuses to try another chat app other than messenger.
I'm leaving the centralized internet behind but I'm also a very online hipster. It is what it is. If the fediverse ends up being a smaller place then so be it.
People install Windows when they want to play games that only run on Windows.
It's this primarily.
Secondarily Linux is still a pain in the ass in a lot of ways. I've been playing with Linux for a few years now after being exposed to it at work. I love Linux but when I dual booted (Ubuntu) and tried to daily drive it a year and a half ago on my desktop it was a nightmare. I literally came back after one day and nothing worked. Sometimes I'm down to troubleshoot, sometimes I just want games to work. Granted, Proton has come a long way and most of what I try on the Steam Deck just works.
@ono It'll be interesting to see if the quality remains high throughout the whole experience, which is supposedly very long.
FFXVI, some Battlebit with a friend, and got a couple hours of Baldur's Gate 3 in today. Looking forward to BG3 release next month and wrapping up FFXVI within the next week.
Tentatively excited for CS2. Put a lot of time in the first game but after initial learning you really needed mods to make it interesting. It also wasn't that great of a sim. Paradox's DLC strategy is also abysmal, I see the first "expansion" is bridges and ports. I haven't been able to find any information on what is in the expansion.
They just needed to put out more maps at SOME point. FPS live and die by the maps. Granted, the game had a lot of other problems but this was the biggest one for me.
