Images for R3 exist for openwrt. R4 is not even in snapshot yet, maybe in some a github? But how good is support?
First poster is right: separate 'routing' from the rest of your stack, by using dedicatd routing devjc
Something I'm looking at myself is HP elitedesk 800 gen3 Tower. Mobo has 5 sata ports in addition to 1 nvme port. It takes 6/7th gen cpu so you could reuse your current cpu. 4 ram slots DDR4@2400.
What is especially appealing is the 5.25 slot for which icydock has a powered bracket that takes and powers 4 SSD disks. (Edit: ejectable too). Sure the chassis has internal space to accomodate even more HDD.
With Proxmox on the nvme + some raidz zfs action would make for a nice HCI setup. My next build and might inspire yours.
The usual setup is to install Proxmox on your G4 and then run a jellyfin VM on it. The integrated gpu is passed to that vm which allows it to transcode the mediadata to weak clients like a browser. So the question really is 'what is your TV setup'? If you wanne stream content to the builtin browser of yer TV from the G4, or if you have a mediaplayer connected to it over smb ? I prefer the latter and never use transcoding, though i have a working setup.
