Probably been suggested before and I know Gateway traps exist, but I think having wall portals would be interesting. The idea is that they only appear along a wall and work both ways instead of the Gateway traps unidirectional flow. Wall portals could work in just one room or perhaps joining two different rooms. And speaking of Gateway traps, what if there was a different color variation that sent you to an adjacent floor?
I've played this game for years but haven't been able to get the hang of the Monk sub-class. I remember having a really good run with a hand axe, but the whole time I felt like I wasn't playing the character properly. What is the best weapon/armor/ring/etc for a Monk and how best to utilize the special moves?
I feel like the Arcane Stylus should be reimagined slightly. In the original PD there were many more in the game and they had a secondary function of repairing degraded armor. Stylus were later replaced by the Scroll of Enchant. In SPD, Enchant Runestones do the same thing, so the stylus is a bit redundant (not that this is a bad thing), but I wonder if there is some other way to make stylus more interesting or useful?
For instance, maybe they could be a rare item but instead of a random glyph the player gets to pick between two glyphs? And/or maybe you can use them on cursed armor to weaken a curse but not remove it? Also, it think it's strange this magical item can't be used for alchemy. It would be nice if they could at least be turned into alchemal energy even if there were no recipe, or turned into an arcane catalyst, or maybe you can combine two or more styluses into a Runestone of Enchant?
Just some thoughts.
There are no T1 ranged weapons (other than the Mage's Staff). I thought something like a slingshot would help in the first two regions because sometimes artillery are scarce and the Wandmaker doesn't always offer a good offensive wand. I imagine a slingshot like a weaker Spirit Bow, something with infinite ammo (since there would likely be small fragments of rock everywhere in the Dungeon). There have been times when I've faced Tengu with nothing more than a Wand of BlastWave and a pair of Throwing Clubs, so something like a slingshot would increase chances of success with such a poor selection of weapons.
I feel like someone suggested this years ago but can't remember specifically.
