I would, but unfortunately I don't know anyone with experience in this area. But I won't be doing it by myself, and I've done quite a bit of research, so I at least think I won't mess up to the point of breaking anything
Probably. I hope that people start spreading to other instances cause, as nice as it is to have so many new people, it becomes a bit bloated. And besides, everybody using just one server kinda takes the jpy out of the fediverse
I figured as much, lol. You've all done an amazing job at keeping the servers going despite all the new traffic! The lag isn't too big a problem, I'm just happy it's not a problem on my end
That's what I figured as well! I'm both glad more people are joining Lemmy but also a bit sad it's taking so long to load.. I'm sure it'll sort itself out eventually
Thank you! And I was planning on getting cable ties, although the ones I was going to get were zip ties. Velcro ties do sound much easier to manage, though, lol. Setting the ram correctly somehow sounds both simple yet stressful
Thanks! Choosing a case that's small enough to be easy to transport but not hard to build in is a concern, but I believe my current case will do well! Setting up the bios is what I'm more concerned with, but I'm sure I'll manage. And sorry but the vagueness of the post, I'm generally looking for any advice instead of specific advice
Ah, thank you! I've already been using PCPartPicker, but it has been an AMAZING help. I don't think I could handle the stress of making a parts list without it
I care less for what happens to the website and more what happens to the users. Having a website where you build and found such large communities fuck you over like this must be heartbreaking
All your points are very true, unfortunately. It just saddens me seeing companies hurt the very community that even allowed them to rise to popularity
It's sad to see this happen but I'm (unfortunately) not surprised. Whenever a site/software/etc becomes the main/only thing most people use it starts taking advantage of that. I just hope it happens less in the future with the rise of decentralized nd federated social media
