It's not their data. If you scrape Reddit for the comments are reposted them somewhere else Reddit wouldn't be able to come after you with a copyright violation lawsuit.
Any potential copyright is still owned by the original user with Reddit having a license to sublicense for "syndication, broadcast, distribution, or publication by other companies, organizations, or individuals who partner with Reddit."
They would have to come after you with a ToS contract violation or maybe some kind of Computer Fraud and Misuse allegations.
So a bit off topic but I found it interesting. I was looking for what GID stood for, gender identity disorder, and ran into an article discussing the DSM-V debat in changing the diagnosis.
I loved this little quote:
[Daryl Hill] insisted, GID is not a mental disorder at all. More than anything else, the criteria described reflect “the distress often experienced by parents” who have become “preoccupied with the negative aspects” of their son’s or daughter’s behavior as the child struggles to make sense of gender-related feelings
100% with the content warnings.
Other flairs I'm on the fence about. Makes it easier to filter out or for identities you want to see or not. But I'm personally probably just going to look at everything in the new feed.
I like image description for accessibility. Writing "template: x top text: y bottom text: z" isn't an insane burden. But I'm afraid others might disagree and there will be less content because of it.
Shaving and an at home IPL device. I'm not sure how well it'll work long term but for now it's enough for me.
They probably won't even have to defederate. Become big enough that you can dictate the standards of federation in a way that profits you.
Another vote for migration. I think this makes 5 of the 6 subscribers having given input now.
