DERRY, N.H. — As places of worship around the state decorate and plan for the holiday season, the Department of Homeland Security is urging a different kind of preparation.

It comes after the director of the FBI warned of an increased terror threat due to the Israel-Hamas war.

The first night of Hanukkah is Thursday. The rabbi of a Derry Synagogue said the leaders discussed not putting the menorah out front, worried it might make them a target for violence. Instead, they are getting a police detail in the parking lot so people can feel safe.
