Welcome to the Melbourne Community Daily Discussion Thread. RIP Bot #001
I was sleeping at the time but I’m sad to to bring this news to everyone.
My grandma has passed away, only a couple of hours ago. She passed away peacefully from what I’ve been told.
I don’t know how I feel about things yet. Looks like be taking more time off from work after I get over this sickness.
I'm very sorry for your loss and that you weren't able to see her. Take care of yourself.
Stopped the car at the zebra crossing by South Melbourne Market and who happens to cross in front of the car but my ex, that ex, the one who never spoke to me again. My initial thought was WTF and then my heart did that pain thing it does and then I got teary eyed and then I felt completely okay about it. It didn't give me this burning desire to talk to her, it didn't make me miss her, it just reminded me of the pain she caused me and then I moved on. Also to note I was not driving. lol. Thank god.
My chicken wings
Top: sweet and sour bottom: baharat (7 spices).
They were good. I think.
Bringing Dad up to moama seems to have been a good choice. I'm up $1000. Grabbing a lime thickshake and a ham & cheese toastie for lunch. Pretty good day.
Thanks to @bull@aussie.zone for posting today's thread. You are awarded honorary bot status for the day.
I know there's bad shit going on in the world right now and I'm not trying to be funny but I just finished a coffee and I couldn't taste it. I just prepared chicken wings, I can't smell any spices. I'm fucking dirty. Of all the things that can be taken from me why did it have to be food. I've added extra chilli to the chicken wings and am contemplating tasting the Carolina Reaper paste the man raves about. I may regret that later on. I'm desperate.
Please send me pet pics, other people's pet pics, wildlife to cheer me up. Most appreciated in advance.
little bugger, 😂 I heard a quiet rustle and knew exactly what it was , when I came in he jumped down and ran away, which shows a guilty conscience!
It was my dogs 7th birthday the other day. Here she is with her chicken cake topped with cat treats and the rubber chicken that she killed within 20 seconds of receiving it.
This lovely girl has gone to kitty heaven in the sky, but I thought you’d like the pic 🧡
Try quick sharp inhales, orange peel or curry in particular. It might give you a little burst of smell and it's comforting to know that part of you still works.
I just read an article promising to tell me 11 things I did not know I could wash in the washing machine. They failed to have even one thing I did not know. Damn clickbait.
Did you know you can wrap a piece of salmon up in alfoil, chuck it in with your clothes, run a delicate cycle, and voila! Perfectly cooked salmon every time
Many years ago Peter g’day Russel g’day Clarke cooked a bunch of stuff in a B-double truck engine. Have later seen other variants of the idea, all bad.
I'm not sure what we're reading here. Is anyone else sure super sure about about this approach to cooking fish. Is it the dishwasher or washing machine.
I’ve heard you can cook it in the engine as you drive, too. Wrapped in tinfoil on top of the engine, arrive at destination and dinner is done!
You risk the fruit and veg suiciding against the drum. Tomatoes wouldn't stand a chance with my man's socks.
The best method is to place the fruit and veg iniside the socks rather than washing them seperately, to provide protection to the fruit whilst saving on water.
Or from experience, toddlers.
That's how this pom ended up being shipped to Australia in the first place.
(I am hopefully very obviously joking)
I've got another one for you.
Did you know that if you crank up the machines RPM as high as it'll go then you've got a high speed cheese wheel grater?
Day 15/70: First day of week 3 weigh-in.
Down 0.4kg. I probably shouldn't have eaten that whole pizza last night. I tried to only eat half, but they're just so good you can't stop. 😥
Another day, another new bag of potting mix, another infestation of fungus gnats along with it.
w0000 GREENHOUSE FINALLY PERMANENTLY MOUNTED
Will fix the auto opening arm later, too fucking hot to be arsing around in a greenhouse with a tiny fiddly task. You get angry very fast.
The trip up to Sydney was mostly good. The hotel was kind of shit and sydneysiders confuse my brain, but I find myself very disappointed with our transport system. We do buses and night network better than they do, but they didn't privatise (most of) their public transport network, and it is very clearly reflected in the way things are run. They haven't sacked everyone to run things as cheaply as possible, you can actually find their customer service people, although the media has painted all the union strikes as if they've gone and set the trains on fire or something, the conditions they unions have won very clearly reflect in the happiness and well-being of their public facing staff. All the guards and customer service people are very friendly and actually try to help
I'm still going to call them Shitney, because like, I'm legally obligated to hate them as a melburnian, but Sydney now holds a special place in my heart, PT wise
Happy birthday. The first 50 years are the worst. Be glad that you’ve survived another year and have a chance of continuing to do so
Hey I'm a bit late to the party on this one but I hope you have had a very happy birthday!
Maneki Neko cat rescue burnin snags at Preston Bunnings. Show some luv if you around 😻
Took my brain a few re-reads to compute that. I read that a cat was rescuing burning snags and was quite confused about what was happening. I could envisage a cat maliciously swiping the sauce bottle to the ground, but a daring rescue of a sausage in peril did not seem very cat like behaviour.
6 or 7 years ago I spent a bucket load on Sonos speakers, 7 placed through the house. Couldn't even afford to buy one these days, but man it's nice saying ok Google, Play ABC jazz and hearing sultry soothing sounds throughout the house..
Ask Google to play a cat meowing and watch the dog perk up. Then get the kids to go through the whole animal kingdom. Fun for the whole family and cheap entertainment too.
I think bot #001 slept through his alarm again. Great game tonight. Aussies over NZ by 5 runs.
Pretty exciting stuff! I almost never watch cricket but I was very invested in the outcome of this one. Bourbon helped. Stayed up with dad drinking it until it finished. Bed time now.
Strange, bot#001 is running fine, no errors. It just didn't even try to post for no obvious reason at all.
Not sure when, fairly recently I think, but they lifted the ban on us Brits donating blood. It's the right thing to do, but it will help me as well as I have too much iron in my blood. I just reminded Mrs_Owl that I'm going in on Tuesday...and she reminded me that it's Halloween and now I really want the staff to be dressed up as vampires!
Can confirm. Not a Brit but I lived there 88-92 in the hey day of mad cow... Can finally donate.
That's good :) I dread to think how many dodgy burgers I had from the foodtruck outside the nightclub at 2am back then.
