Are you unironically saying Disney went broke? The company that probably owns most of the entertain properties that you consume.
It's producing nothing but shit lately tho. Marvel movies suck, with the exception of Spiderman which is handled by Sony, Pixar movies suck, their own Disney animation movies suck, Star Wars was a disaster. Sure they may make money but the quality is really, really low.
Yo, but the facts don't care about your feelings. Lol
Disney is printing money whether you like the content or not.
Producing content you don't like has exactly zero bearing on this conversation.
Sure they may make money but the quality is really, really low.
By this I assuming you mean rake in a metric fuck ton of cash every day of the year.
Sure they may make money but the quality is really, really low.
Do you understand what 'going broke' means?
Hint: Making money is the exact opposite of that.
Ok.
Disney gross profit for the quarter ending June 30, 2023 was $7.859B, a 0.47% increase year-over-year.
Disney gross profit for the twelve months ending June 30, 2023 was $28.776B, a 3.06% increase year-over-year.
Disney annual gross profit for 2022 was $28.321B, a 27.07% increase from 2021.
Disney annual gross profit for 2021 was $22.287B, a 3.62% increase from 2020.
Disney annual gross profit for 2020 was $21.508B, a 21.92% decline from 2019.

21.92% decline in 2020. Why did they decide to become so incredibly woke for that year alone?!??
I don't think so. Perhaps there was a global woke mind virus. Looking at the finances of many companies, it seems they all went broke and thus woke during that specific year.
Do they make yamakas yarmulkes with little propellers on them? I feel like that would be more suitable for Ben.
Hold on. Is this the shrink-face-guy or the guy who can’t get his wife wet?
Don’t wanna sound racist, but they all look the same to me.
Shrink face guy isn’t Jewish. This is Ben “wet vaginas are a sign of disease” Shapiro
if you're genuinely asking, this is Ben "Doctor Wife Thinks Wet Ass Pussy Is Bad" Shaprio, not Charlie "Tiny Face" Kirk.
Google Charlie Kirk and then wonder why he chose to be a right wing grifter rather than sell his shrink ray.
I've seen practically nothing but photoshopped Charlie Kirk pictures for so long that I can't tell if a genuine photo is real or not.
A wife that he admitted doesn’t get aroused with him. Says that wet pussies as a medical condition. Poor lady
reminder of the time he called a right BBC presenter a leftist because he didn't like his questions
Ben Shapiro's Jewish...association and his Kippah are two of the least offensive things about the man, the first of which is he commonly argues against people because of how icky they make him feel.
I have few issues against Jews. I have plenty of issues against transnational white-power affiliates and bigoted assholes. And Shapiro is demonstrably both.
If you could see what's going on in everyone's heads all the time, you'd also come up with a way to avoid looking at some.
I'd like to think, as an all knowing omniscient being, that I'd come up with something a little better than hat-that-doesnt-entirely-cover-your-head
It's a sacred hat, we mere mortals can't see the glow it emits covering the whole wearer in an "ignore this" field. 😇
‘Hacker Hoodie’ Blinds Surveillance Cameras with Infrared Light
Well if you’re seeing through everything all the time then you aren’t seeing anything. You’ve gotta pick what you’re going to see and that precludes seeing what’s behind it. Unless we’re talking about some omniscience sense. But then that’s not seeing.
A Jewish friend once explained the yarmulke as just being polite to god. “He doesn’t want to look down and see that.” I had never thought of the crown of the head as an offensive area. 🤷♂️
But "god is everywhere all the time' so 'he' won't necessarily be looking down. he may be looking at you, or from below, behind, etc.
This 'god' is touted as having unlimited power; able to do anything. he would be able to not see what he wants, when he wants.
Religious 'rules' and stories make no sense. This 'god' flooded Earth but had noah build an ark with animals. Then he drowned everything on Earth. Mass genocide. Why drowned all the living? Are you not a 'god'? Why not just make people disappear? Did he not have an 'un-create' button on his laptop?
I wonder how ordinary people thought about this kind of thing 2000 years ago. Did they even have this notion of “god is everywhere?” They had no idea what the sky or stars were, so maybe they just thought god was literally up there. And did they have these elaborate mind teasers about omnipotence or did they just think god was vastly more powerful than us?
Fear is the beginning of all religions. They were afraid of the things they didn't understand, thunder, lightning, perpetual rain, drought. So these things were 'reasoned' away by assigning all the gods, zeus, poseidon, etc to be the overseer of those events. Eventually people thought worshiping and sacrifices 'fed' or calmed the gods. It is common in all religions and superstitions remain about many aspects of all religions.
Humanity is able to explain so much now. We no longer spend our time believing all the stories from the clergy, shamans, village leaders, we actually can verify facts.
We carry computers in our pockets, we are the gods now.
well that just misses the whole point lol
not that I agree with religion, but your argument is a strawman built on ignorance
All Abrahamic 'gods' are touted as 'all knowing, all seeing'. They, allegedly, have unlimited powers. It's not a strawman to point out inconsistencies in a touted 'perfect' religion.
Mythologies are based on whatever-you-want-to-believe-at-the-moment, not facts.
This is the dumbest response to any sort of argument and meant intentionally to make an argument rather than a discussion. Facts don't care about feelings, but people do. And if you don't care about the person you are talking to you are just a hack looking to exploit.
Granted I'm human and have made this mistake when people forget about facts and try to bring them the side I see and have faultered. But I'm not trying to exploit it into a brand of morality and claim I am better than anyone else either.
"Facts don't care about your feelings" is a statement geared toward people upset at the fact a certain statement is true. And it is true, usually. Reality supercedes people's feelings and to get along in life you do have to accept that.
Arguing "Well, people DO care about feelings and if you don't cater to them and avoid offending us, we won't listen to you" means all of jack and shit to people like that because they're not actually trying to get you to do anything, they're just speaking for the sake of it. If anything, they're doing you a favor and your negative reaction does nothing but justify their negative worldview that convinced them to prioritize reality over your feelings to begin with.
See, you care only about your feelings, but clearly not theirs because in the face of facts you are blatantly resorting to emotional blackmail and, quite frankly, bullying, so why would they give a shit about how you feel?
In their minds you're nothing but childish, immature dipshits and you prove their point when you talk about your feelings in discussions about anything but that. They could be talking about peas and carrots and you'd be bitching about how your feelings got hurt when they told you carrots were not originally orange but were bred that way and you threw a hissy fit because that opens holes in your worldview.
You all are something else, man. I see why the right wing thinks you're a joke.
Goddamn, you really got yourself worked up there, and a shit take to boot. Most of the time that someone uses the phrase "facts don't care about your feelings" those people are arguing in bad faith, cherry picking data and purposefully excluding context to cater to their desired conclusion. My go to example is the statistics of violent crime convictions by race. There are so many extraneous details to that statistic that you could never truly conclude anything based on that statistic alone. It fails to take into account the environmental conditions, social factors, economic factors, and biases in the justice system when you present that statistic at face value.
Yep, see, point proven. The first thing you did was to instantly react and get defensive instead of thinking about what they're saying because your feelings were hurt and that's all you give a shit about, not whatever the hell they were originally talking about.
You didn't consider that not everyone who says "facts don't care about your feelings" is speaking in bad faith, you just identify that statement as a tribal marker. Because you're an emotional thinker and not a rational one.
Or that people who are not right-wingers also argue in bad faith or concern troll. You'll probably take a potshot at me by claiming I'm one -- proving the statement right -- because all you care about are your personal feelings.
Or that they could be government spooks forum sliding. I have personally witnessed that happening right here on Lemmy several times.
There is so much more to life than your base animalistic fee-fees and you'd see that if you actually learned how to debate properly, took a step outside of yourself and fucking breathed. But that's a you problem, not a me problem. All I can do is warn you. It's up to you to inevitably not listen and wind up suffering when you keep getting pwned in shitty internet arguments.
Are you responding to the correct comment? I literally never said anything defensive... basically nothing you said applies to me or my comment, so it's pretty clear you are engaging in some egregious projection there. Hopefully you figure your problems out.
I mean, where did I specify right-wingers in my comment? I intentionally left it open because of course people of different opinions are capable of bad faith argument. Once again, you are projecting, and it's making you look silly.
I can see that reading isn't your thing. In a podcast, yes it's a hacky gimmick that right wing dumbasses repeat because critical thinking isn't about as abundant as teeth or girls that they share amongst themselves.
But when you are actually talking to someone, feelings do matter. Or you are just blurting out stuff for your own ego. Your facts don't mean shit to the person listening unless you care about how they are receiving the information.
No one, and I mean this stronger than I do to anyone I have ever said anything to (including my son or mother), no one, is so important that their information is above this social norms.
There is no saving humanity conversation like in the movies. Or some dumb hero's quest with your knowledge. You are just like the rest of us. Your facts are easily found. The relationships you have with people are not.
Feelings do matter in the real world. It's a snake oil salesman pitch to sell a "real man's" cosplay that people buy because they can't look internally to actually fix themselves.
Holy fuck, you turned around and did the exact same thing I said you would do and you proved my point. You really do only care about your feelings. Color me surprised.
"Muahaha, you activated my trap card! Wait, you want to know what my trap card was? It's... uh... that I win because I said so! Neener neener!"
That's you. That's how you sound.
I responded how you talked to me. I thought was how you choose to communicate. Funny how that works.
Proving my point exactly. You care more about revenge than the subject of conversation, ergo you are entirely deserving of the derision of people who tell you "facts don't care about your feelings".
What you're doing right now is why people tell you that facts don't care about your feelings and, in your case, to grow the fuck up.
Case in point, how you opened up your last comment by telling me "I see reading isn't your thing" and then tried to report posts I made to the c/leopardsatemyface sub.
That I am a mod of.
The sub I created.
That's the kind of pettiness, childishness and immaturity people who tell you "facts don't care about your feelings" are calling you out on and they're right.
Being an adult means you have to be willing to put your feelings to the side and you're clearly not capable of doing that. Not even when you so blatantly prove a so-called opponent right.
But who's really surprised by this? Honestly.
Oh look what you've done. You've driven me to point at Sartre's antisemite quote:
Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.
— Jean Paul Sartre
「points.」
To be fair, any head covering is fine, jews have just all decided that the kippah is some timeless shit.
Feelings matter as much as cold hard facts. For example, immigrants in general provide boost to the economy more than they take. However, fact of the matter too is that humans are still too tribalistic and feel unease see "too many foreigners". Some traditions are also, I believe, is important to bind society together because they connect with another being. I don't know what religion or culture you profess, but can you imagine if there is no Christmas, Hannuka, Thanksgiving or Diwali? No yearly street festival in your neighbourhood? No Halloween or St Patrick's Day? These traditions and customs bind people together. Many people would feel alienated if some or all of these traditions disappear. I certainly remember growing up there is stronger community spirit, but now there aren't as individualism and materialism took precedence, thanks to capitalist values. I think there should be balance with most things but I digress. Feelings matter as much as facts and these feelings manifests in social upheaval and policies.
Someone passed me in the lobby of my building while I was awaiting an Uber. He had jewish curls.
I don't hate anyone based on race. I hate based on belief and other choices.
I hate people wearing crosses. I hate anyone who advertises religion. I don't need to know.
Fuck everyone who wants you to know. Unless your ceremony results in something I can't perceive, don't do it.
What about atheist Jews that still think you're bigots? Convenient time to separate culture and religion. Really enables one to go full dog whistle with an easy out. Super fun week seeing true colors. But we're just whiney snowflakes.
It doesn’t look like the meme is mocking his culture, only his religion. On top of that, it appears to be calling out his hypocrisy when it comes to secular American politics. So I don’t really see how an Atheist Jew would take offense to this meme that’s mocking a religion they don’t follow, as well as his theocratic-inspired American legislation efforts.
I’m not even an atheist, I’m Catholic. I just saw this meme and thought it was funny because I too think Ben Shapiro’s religious dogma is both bullshit and at odds with half the shit he says. If he was a Christian and these “bigots” made fun of his crucifix instead of yarmulke it wouldn't really bother me.
Glad you wrote back, thanks. We agree on a lot. He's a douchebag, if that needs saying. But as a secular Jew, what isn't offensive to you, and an interconnectedness that doesn't make sense to you, it actually does to us. There is a lot of intellectualizing away humanity this week so I'm sensitive to it. But fwiw I have been for decades. Like.. I despise Hamas. I weep at pictures of Muslim children.. this isn't politics. If it were any other locale, the Israeli victims would come first out the gate.. like 9/11.. per capita 200x the scale in this case. Except instead of Wall St employees, they were hippie farmers. But it's Jews, so no. And you can call out Israeli apartheid, but nobody victim blames any other civilians anywhere on the honor globe like I've seen this week. If you have any Jewish people you care about, that's my tip. Question why "this case" but not others. Before this war started, it was already on Lemmy let me alone earth. I can give you specific examples if you like.
