I'm operating at 133% capacity!

Everything seems to be working fine as I do have 48GB of RAM installed (2x16 + 2x8) so I'm just ignoring the message and hoping the problem goes away.

The consequences of downloading too much ram.

It sounds like you have a slower DIMM slotted higher in the order, so you’re artificially limiting the faster DIMMs ranked behind it.

Look up the optimal slot order and speed requirements etc for the motherboard, I’ll bet you’ll find you have it stacked wrong or have technically unsupported DIMMs.

I believe the gore is that it says 4 out of 3 memory slots are occupied. Which, last I checked, is slightly impossible.

Hold my beer....

You're right on both counts, I think. I'll have to double check my pair order.

This is a hackintosh so it's a bit of a mess. The pairs are mismatched in speed, but if I turn on XMP to get it up to the speed of the lower pair (which is supported by the higher) then I get occasional kernel panics in macOS.

It is just not good to operate in dual mode with 2 different sizes

Just be aware that this is not a recommended configuration.
