I think that even third party clients that survived the APIcalypse will slowly bleed to death. In that light, Eternity for Lemmy was a great idea.
welp, without infinity i don't even remember my reddit username. so that's that then, thanks for all the fish!
Uninstalling the app and reinstalling it via F-droid fixes the problem. For now, at least.
And with that my reddit consumption is restricted to desktop only (as long as old reddit works)
Weren't they switching to a subscription model? I know they pushed back the release of this new version but apparently Spez didn't feel like giving more free API access in the meantime. Or maybe the Infinity devs gave up on Reddit. Who knows.
It switched to a subscription model. When you launch the app now it asks what tier you want to be part of per month
Infinity was one of the best mobile Reddit apps I've ever used. Now the only thing keeping me on Reddit still is the RES extension. When that will eventually stop working too or Reddit decides to get rid of old Reddit, I'll be deleting my account.
Luckily, there is an Infinity fork for Lemmy.
For me the subscription page opens when I open Infinity, so their probably rolling that out bit for bit. Don't know about the F-Droid though, might take longer till it comes up there as well.
You can make your own infinity app using your reddit API, just follow this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/Infinity_For_Reddit/comments/14c2v5x/build_your_own_apk_with_your_personal_api_key_in/
