Caltech is dropping calculus, chemistry and physics course requirements for some underserved students and will offer alternative ways to demonstrate knowledge in those fields.

Did the idea for c/PhD come from the r/PhD community?
No. r/PhD was the inspiration for starting this c/PhD on Lemm.ee, but this idea did not start or come from within r/PhD.

Do the mods of r/PhD know about c/PhD? Yes. I consulted with them before opening this community, asking if they would be interested in coordinating activities or participating on c/PhD. Mods replied saying they have no interest in moving or branching out to Lemmy, and encouraged us to create c/PhD.
