Opposition parties have been accused of trying to whip up racism over a tool which prioritises surgery waitlists based partly on ethnicity, and the Health Minister's been asked to check it's working as it should.

It's absolutely wild the mess opposition parties are drawing this into - the evidence is incredibly clear on the disparity faced by Māori and Pasifika in our healthcare system, and if there's one group I'd trust to make decisions around this it's clinicians and the people doing the work, rather than politicians in an election cycle.
