This is my new home
For real though, since I joined Lemmy (last Friday, 4 days into blackout) I probably spend as much daily time here as I spent there before blackout š but I'm enjoying it !

It's nice to see posts made by real people; this way (using Lemmy), you realize just how much bots' crap is Reddit made of.
Agree. The lack of bots, sponsored posts and AutoMod comments are a breath of fresh air
oh man I do not miss scrolling past the thousand word automod essay on every freaking post. I kinda miss sorting by controversial though.
That reminds me of r/shitposting, there used to be a time where you could ruin an entire post and have like more than 50 replies of the autobot alone
Seems like it's being worked on though. The controversial calculation is still being tweaked for performance & an experience similar to reddit: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy/issues/2515
Excuse me, does anyone know how to delete someone else's post? I'm in this picture and I don't like it.
Just kidding, I love it here.
Yes, I know how. Just press the button work the forbidden on it, go to the previous page and reload. Gone!
Same here, it took me a while to figure out how Lemmy works, but I think I'm getting it. Honestly I can't believe I haven't found out about this before now. Go fediverse!
The first few days were kind of tough; but once I started finding communities I liked, my feed got pretty nice.
Me: I have to spend less time on social media.
Also me: Federation is right thing. Do not leave!
This place is already doing what reddit did for me and Jerboa is very close to the 3rd party app I used. Fuck reddit and spez, hello Lemmy!
Yea I'm liking Jerboa a lot, I just need an app on IOS so I don't have to use a tablet to browse lemmy lol
oh I know... I'm so much more active here. It's just a nicer atmosphere for engagement.
Indeed! This is where reddit goes to die, to paraphrase a great contemporary philosopher (/s/s/s, Ć¼ber/s, in case it's needed)
Four /s's means you're being sarcastic about being sarcastic about being sarcastic about being sarcastic - so, you're not being sarcastic!
I spent way too long trying to compute this.
rewinds timeline
"Hello world, Please notice I'm currently being sarcastic. Have a very nice day, Sincerely."
Or I could just edit my post, but...
Lemmy is the first platform I've come across that I'm actually excited to use in many years. Being federated and not motivated by profits (with all the tracking and selling of personal information that it entails) makes me feel like I'm not the product.
Your information is freely available through the API of these platforms so I could track you myself now šš
Don't you do that all times for everybody though. Not as powerful as you claim if you don't.
Yes, I can't wait to see where this goes! Lately I've found myself lurking and barely leaving comments on Reddit anymore, yet here I am on Lemmy commenting away.
LoL. I wasn't really distracted by random subs on reddit. But on Lemmy. People are into flashlights???!!
I know! Thank God I'm not the only one. I've been seeing that community constantly while trying to figure out how to use Lemmy.
So true! I had high aspirations to cut down on screen time post Reddit, but the fediverse comes along and sucked me right back in!
Just to avoid scree time after reddit blackout, I had uninstalled other social media apps as well. But got suck into Lemmy right after that.
I never thought of myself as addicted to social media, but I got more studying done in two days than I have in two months. It made me realize how much SM consumed my time.
Trying to fill the void has shown me just how large the void was in the first place.
