even when r/MMA re-opens I'm done with reddit, can't stand the way spez handled this whole mess with false claims about the Apollo dev
the official app sucks and I know they are gonna shut old.reddit down next
I'm staying on the fediverse even if it only retains a very small userbase, but if people want to stay on reddit they should be able to do that too
We're keeping this kbin open. So please continue to come here and participate and submit content. It'll probably remain a small community here for awhile but we're gonna try and keep this churning as best we can for some time. Who knows when Reddit will try some tomfoolery again.
Can someone create a scraper that crossposts here from Reddit then? If r/mma is opening up, this place is sort of doomed to irrelevancy since there will be basically no benefit and a lot of disadvantages for average users to come here. If every post is crossposted here, at least there will be more content here than on Reddit.
Now that I know about decentralized social media I'll never go back to corporate controlled online socializing. I'm new to beehaw, but it seems the admins are sincere and empathetic. Icing on the cake.
Once the largest subs came back online there's not really anything that smaller subs can do to hold the line anymore. Reddit made some concessions, though meager. So we're opening back up but keeping this Kbin instance open. We'll continue to encourage posting here and we'll continue to mod here.
But keeping /r/mma closed while the biggest subs are open just hurts the /r/mma community and is like a pebble against a tank if it stays closed by itself.
Yup, fuck reddit. I will never use their official apps to access the site. When old.reddit.com dies so will my participation.
Same.
We need to build a community here and iron out any chinks before the final wave of reddfugees get here after old.reddit's inevitable demise..
I inagine reddit will become like the octagon mat with ads everywhere. Gotta keep the shareholders happy.
It's an indefinite lockdown: https://www.mmamania.com/2023/6/14/23759887/reddit-mma-blackout-protest-api-change-ufc-moderator

got any proof for that? I do think it's a vocal minority that want to continue keeping the subs closed. Most people really don't care
Most still on Reddit probably just want normality to resume. The average redditor who didn't immediately jump ship already used the app and hasn't got a clue what all the noise is about. Its us old school Redditors who cared and we're all over here or lemmy or discord.
yeah even though I don't like reddit and would like a legit alternative. I don't like the idea of closing the subs and making all the resources inaccessible
I know that's been said, but in the past 24 hours someone has updated the /r/mma page to say "r/ mma will reopen later this weekend", as shown in the image I posted. You can read it here, first sentence https://www.reddit.com/r/mma
Yeah, so Sunday. They would've made a post about it here if they intended to open on Saturday!
