It's pretty good and depending on load can go all day. Graphics heavy stuff or intense processing uses a bunch more though, but then mostly I use it at my desk with the power plugged... so far I got no complaints with this device
The company I work for has recently stopped buying these and instead buying Razer laptops. Moving to an ARM platform was nice for battery life and also apples bottom line but it made them worthless to a wide range of professionals.
It depends what you do. I do data science, and didn't have any problems switching to ARM. The machine is just better than my old iteration - better ports, better keyboard, no touchbar, and runs faster, smoother, quieter, and for longer. My dev setup didn't change, and remains the same as what I run on my intel lenovo archlinux laptop...
