That's the definition of if you want security you gotta maintain it. In this case the admin slacked off on his op sec and didn't update to a newer version.

If this isn't a call-to-action in making sure your defences are up to date, I don't know what is.

I mean in this case im glad he didnt update lol. Basically nothing has changed from 100 years ago. Criminals still being caught because they are stupid.

Kind of disappointed by STRG_F here. They published some bad journalism before, but just 1:1 repeating the claims of the police as a primary source is obviously bad practice. They might have deanonimzed people on the tor network, but they would never actually tell the public how they did it.
