A Toronto-area man is facing terror charges in both Canada and the United States, authorities say, for allegedly attempting to illegally enter the U.S. to carry out a mass shooting at a Jewish Centre in New York City.
This is the third arrest within a month. It's too easy to get into Canada due the the relaxed federal immigration policies. It may be too late but we need to tighten up who we let into the country.

That's an actual crime... I totally understand "intent to commit a terrorist act" being a crime but I'm baffled we have such a specific law tied to trying to leave the country. What an obscure fucking law.
it's to stop attempts to leave and commit terrorism from lawless jurisdictions. I think it's fairly new and related to the short period of time when ISIS held territory in Syria & Iraq. Odd to see it used for the US, but why not.
Maybe it was enacted post-9/11 when the rumour mill was screaming that all the hijackers had funneled through Canada to the US.
