It is more efficient to buy cheap supermarket sponges and replace them more often, or do you find that more expensive options are worth the additional cost?

I used to use the green and yellow scotch-Brite but I've been sucked into the scrub daddy paradigm. They really are good scrub/sponges and last forever.
+2 for scrub daddy and putting them in the dishwasher. I’ve been using the same one for 6 months and still going strong.
Absolutely yes on the scrub daddy. I didn’t even know there was a paradigm but I found some on sale somewhere so I got them and I couldn’t believe how well they hold up and how much suds they produce. I especially love how the scrubby part is harder with cold water and softer with hot water
So many people seem to like scrub daddy but they're only available online where I live. They claim that these don't scratch but could I also clean for example the clear plastic water container from our coffee maker without scratching it?
I use the $1 for-a-pack of 8/10 ones for my ceramic hob, together with a ceramic scrubbing paste, but I pretty much always use the soft side. The scrubbing action from the hob paste is enough. They last me about 8 months for a pack. For dishes I use vinyl brushes with dish soap (and two - three of these last a year if I run it them in the dishwasher on 80 C weekly) with an occasional use of a sponges hard side, and plastic mesh nets without dish soap (but a lot of elbow grease) for my steel and iron pans.
I used more expensive varieties, but with scrub daddy/scrub mommy I found that they more often marred the surface of delicate items. I had a relative use a scrub daddy on my ceramic hob (even with lots of suds and warm water), and now I have permanent scratch marks on the hob from it. It used to look like new for over five years until that.
Crochet + yarn does it for me. I make little 3x6" shapes with a small needle.
For scrubbies I use on of the dollar store plastic abrasive pads.
idk but I have also heard of some variant of these "unsponges": https://www.arosetintedworld.co.uk/how-to-make-unsponges-zero-waste-dish-scrubbers/
I primarily use small (3”x3”) microfibre towels for dishwashing - bought a pack of four a while ago ant the grocery store and am still using them. I can’t remember what I paid, but I don’t expect it was much more than $6 or $7 CAD.
I also have a sturdier microfibre scrubby that’s holding up less well, which I wouldn’t buy again. And then, of course, steel wool for the big-time elbow grease jobs.
