Serious, important question about this instance.
Do you (yes you, you personally) read the name as "Shhh, it just works" or "Shit just works".
Do you (yes you, you personally) read the name as "Shhh, it just works" or "Shit just works".
The former for sure 🤣 my headcannon is that @TheDude@sh.itjust.works is running this off of a server in a corner that his bosses rarely check.
I'm here because my first thought it was a funny reference to Todd Howard. And while I like your head canon, I hope @thedude@sh.itjust.works never disclose it, so it stays unclear just for the lulz
When I suggested the subdomain name, I was mostly being a smartass, but I was also referencing secure shell. I never even thought of it as shhh, it just works, that's great.
"Shit just works", but that's just because I came here when others were overwhelmed, so...
Tangentially it took me absolute years to start reading smh.com.au as "Sydney Morning Herald.com.au" and not "shaking my head.com.au."
Mainly because the Herald's news always seems to radiate deep Florida-man energy.
I thought the joke was that it was both, but that some of it legitimately stood for something else, in the beginning, but that both nicknames... Just work.
I promise it sh-it just works. With a little stop in the middle of shit. But not like shhhhh it just works.
I thought this instance is about saying how IT folks do their job well, but saying it quietly?
I may or may not be a sufferer of self-harm, so I’m used to saying “sh”. So I usually call it, “s-h it just works”
