i've grown increasingly, increasingly tired of youtube lately. the exhausting shorts advertised everywhere, overwhelming thumbnails, sensory overload and just generally a really piss poor site. Is there anywhere someone like me can turn to?

hopefully with all the bullshit they've been testing out recently people get fed up like they did with Reddit and make a YouTube 2 themselves 🙏
I've read in privacy blogs/c's about how YT is so big, with such large bandwidth that they have localized content cache servers integrated with most ISPs. Apparently this is why they have discouraged the old community building utility in favor of professional cc's. It reduces the spectrum and total bandwidth if everyone in an area is watching a smaller consistent pool of content. This is also why most of us edge users hate the platform now. We lost the utility of a tool that helped us grow. Real edge interests based content is never able to consistently upload on a schedule. Professional YT is always the cc's primary hobby and interest with no time available to tackle projects with real depth.
Anyways, I don't see how it would be possible to really federate something like YT unless ISP's are forced to provide static addresses, DNS, and symmetrical connections for everyone. This should have already happened.
