Community Top 3 Metroidvanias

Simple, reply with your top 3 MVs, and feel free to edit it as time goes on! I'll pin this to the channel until it becomes difficult to parse!

Example:

  1. Super Metroid
  2. Metroid Dread
  3. Symphony of the Night

(these aren't my top 3)

Feel free to elaborate on why or keep it simple! My top 3 changes quite frequently.

Tomb Raider is at its best when it’s not emulating Uncharted (hands-on preview)

Who needs Nathan Drake when you've got the original Lara Croft?

I've just beat Isidora in Blasphemous

I've just beat Isidora in Blasphemous

That was a really tough fight! Harder than Sierpes for sure. My hands are shaking... In the end it helped me a lot a combo of Romance to the crimson mist and Big toe made of limestone. Plus fire defences.

Now I'll continue with Miriam challenges. Then I will finally fight Crisanta.

Edit: I beat the game with true ending and 100%. It was fantastic. I adore the visual style, music, bosses and the catholic mythos. Some people criticize the platforming (lamp jumping), but I didn't find it weird or anything. I highly anticipate the sequel now.

Rabi-Ribi is a masterpiece

Rabi-Ribi is a masterpiece

I heard it was great for a long time but didn't pay much attention because I'm not really into the cute anime at style and setting. I finally picked it up when it was cheap recently and found some of the best gameplay that I've seen in a while. Plenty of exploration, tight controls, well balanced difficulty, everything a great game needs.

Salt and Sanctuary

I've just finished it. What a tense game. Not really that hard as I expected, but the mood is superb. Dark, despondent, brutal.Enemies are very original. Highly recommended.

Just got a PS Vita. What should I play next?

Just got a PS Vita. What should I play next?

I've played a lot of the usual suspects: Super Metroid, SotN, GBA Castlevanias and Metroids, etc. Just played Hollow Knight and loved it. I'm less familiar with MV's that would've come out on the Vita or PSP. Any suggestions??

Don't sleep on Haiku, The Robot

Don't sleep on Haiku, The Robot

Some will say it's too short or too easy. I think they're both correct depending on your gaming experience but I think it's one of the more cohesive MVs that doesn't feel like there's filler. The controls also feel really good and I really enjoyed the music and atmosphere. It's battling for my top 3 MVs right now.

Welcome to Metroidvania! What are you currently playing?

It's my favorite gaming genre by far. I'm currently finishing a run in Lone Fungus which has become a surprise hit for me.

What are you playing?

I noticed there was no metroidvania community here yet so I decided to create one. If the original mods of that community want to join send me a message. I do not want to be a mod, I just wanted to see my favorite community on Lemmy.
