Blahaj Zone matrix space for gender diverse folk (now with corrected links)

For those of you who don't know, the Blahaj Zone admin team runs a matrix space for gender diverse folk. Similar to lemmy, it's designed with a few "official" channels, but is otherwise a community curated space, with channels run by our members. You don't have to be a blahaj zone user to join.

If you're already a matrix user, you can head straight to our application room https://matrix.to/#/#gv-apply:chat.blahaj.zone, or by searching for #gv-apply:chat.blahaj.zone from within your matrix client.

If you're new to matrix, you can find some more details and an instruction video on how to get up and running here https://chat.blahaj.zone/c/genderverse/

**State of the ~~nation~~ instance** So over the last month our instances have grown substantially and while Ada and I are privileged enough to be able to cover the cost of the small instance we initially envisioned, what it has become is somewhat bigger than that. The Lemmy side of things is currently at 6,500 users and is hosting a larger meme community which involves a lot of image downloads and a fairly substantial bandwidth cost for serving those downloads. As we are hosting on AWS, we pay a premium for all the resources we use and the results of this are that the hosting this month has presented us with a surprise. Our monthly bill has jumped from about $1,000 to about $3,000 a month. (See attached image) Unfortunately while we can manage this as a once off, I can't afford to continue in this fashion, month after month, so we will have to investigate solutions to help reduce operating costs. This will involve moving services off AWS to less premium providers, and the downtime involved while these migrations take place and we retune everything. I apologize in advance for the interruption while we we rejig everything through this process. Thankyou all for understanding. Please let @ada or myself know of any issues that you notice, as glitches may occur when moving things around. $[x2 :Blobhaj_Plead_2:] (📎1)

Guidance for bot accounts

Guidance for bot accounts

I made c/dropout a bit ago and I'm making a script to post new videos automatically. Are there guidelines for bot accounts on here anywhere?

Are game studio communities not allowed?

Are game studio communities not allowed?

Yesterday I created a community here for my indie game studio and made a single post to describe the new game we're working on, only to find out today that it was banned for "spam" (according to the modlog).

I'll respect the mods' decision of course but I admit I'm mostly confused; did I miss something in the ToS and this kind of community is not allowed here? (or did I read the wrong ToS? The one I found here didn't mention anything about this.)

[Solved] Blahaj eating posts in our new community

[Solved] Blahaj eating posts in our new community

We are trying to create posts in our new community !kink@lemmy.blahaj.zone and for some reason they aren't appearing or if they are we can't see them from this account.

Is this a blahaj problem (possibly due to the upgrades) or are new communities not allowed to have posts in them until they've been vetted or some such or is it some other problem we don't yet understand?

Edit: Figured it out, we had "Show NSFW content" off in our settings even though those posts are not marked NSFW themselves it must inherent the 'NSFW'ness from the community, strange but makes sense.
