Anyone excited for the Baldurs Gate 3 release on Mac?

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/3377194

Really excited to play the game. Seems like a Game of the Year candidate. Should be released around September 6 for Mac on Steam (and I think GoG)

I did it!

Spoilers below - beware!

I beat Aec’Letec! I tried it on my last last play-through and gave up convinced it was ridiculous and unfairly balanced.

However… it’s really not that difficult if you get your tactics right (yes some cheese is required).

Such a shame the quest reward is meh (the xp is lovely though)!

Seeking advice on Ranger/Druid multi class build (BG3)

Seeking advice on Ranger/Druid multi class build (BG3)

I’ve started with a Drow Ranger and while I could start right away with multi-classing into a Druid I’m waiting until level 3 for the companion ability thing. But then I’m not sure if I wanna go hard with the Druid or Ranger build. I don’t really know all the higher level abilities well enough to be sure which synergy would be best.

No arcane party?

I've been thinking of spicing up my next run by having no arcane casters in my party. I'm usually pretty arcane heavy so I'm thinking this'll force me to use different solutions.

Does anyone have much experience with this? Is it fun or does it just get tedious not being able to cast haste on your party to get around faster?

Current Charname class?

Current Charname class?

What’s everybody playing at the moment?

My current Charname is a Bard using the Blade kit on BGEE iOS and I have to say I’m really enjoying him!

Tell us your favorite BG voice acting performance and then surprise us with what else the performer ended up doing.

I'll start.

My favorite performance is Jaheira, voiced by Heidi Shannon. That unique, eastern-european accent saying "Yes, oh omnipresent authority figure" is unbelievably iconic and also perfectly captures BG's slightly irreverent tone. It's emblematic of the series as a whole, and probably influenced a lot of fantasy RPG voice acting that came after it. For example, I am convinced that Laura Bailey's character Jester in the second season of critical roll was based on Shannon's performance, though admittedly the personalities of Jester and Jaheira are quite different.

And you know what's surprising? Heidi Shannon didn't go on to do anything else. Nothing that I'm aware of anyway. And I have no idea why. Makes me wonder if the voice actors back then knew that they were working on a very influential title, or if they just recorded those 2 minutes or so of voicework for that weird little game company just to pay some bills.
