yea the original game was scary as shit back in 2008. I played the remake earlier this year and while I like the new side quests and quality of life stuff they added, a lot of the things that were novel back then are pretty played out in 2023 so it wasn't nearly as scary. Motive still did a good job remaking a beloved game though.
it's been pretty funny watching all the people who were howling about Russia's inevitable loss suddenly having to confront reality. every few months I check in on r/ukraine to get a read on their cope levels
I hate how so many projects have replaced their support forums with discord servers too
or when the Wolfenstein twitter account made a tweet about making America Nazi-free again and gamers got mad lol
yea I've made this point before; even if I assume China is spying on me, wtf are they gonna do with this information? Send me a letter like "hey we saw you looking up a guide on how to beat the last boss of final fantasy 4 you motherfucker." On the other hand I live in the US and my government has a history of spying on its citizens and using that information to make their life a living hell
lmao I saw that post yesterday and that exact comment made me roll my eyes. there was another post on r/linux yesterday asking if Deepin linux (Chinese linux distro) is safe and all the comments are some variation of "It's CHINESE so you know it's filled with spyware." There's even a few comments like "I would rather be spied on by the US than the Chinese."
btw don't read that linked thread if you don't want to be exposed to classic Reddit-style Dunning–Kruger smugness
trailer looked good but my interest kinda dropped when it said 2025. when it's that far away my brain is just like "well there's no reason to care about this for another year or more, then" because you know they're just gonna drip feed you the smallest bit of info at a glacial pace until then.
same thing happened when Bethesda announced ES6. I hate when these companies announce projects super early. I wish more games would follow the Fallout 4 route where they announced it in the summer and it released like 4 or 5 months later.
Owlcat makes some damn fine CRPGs so I'm excited for Rogue Trader to come out this week. While waiting for it I finally got around to finishing FF13 for the first time since it released. I'm actually kind of mad at myself for waiting so long because everyone kept saying how much it sucked. It's not the best FF game or anything but I liked it a lot and will eventually play its two sequels as well.
