@redimk
@lemmy.dbzer0.comI'm fairly new to Fedora, so I don't know much (yet), I'm still learning.
That said, I tried upgrading from Fedora 38 to Fedora 39, it worked perfectly, I updated everything (including the NVIDIA drivers, yes) and everything was running fine, I did not delete the previous versions of Fedora from my laptop just in case.
Come today, a week later, and I can't enter Fedora 39. My laptop gives me a list of OS to choose from: Fedora 39, Fedora 38, and (sadly, because I need it for my job) Windows.
When I enter Fedora 39, there is just a black screen and the laptop doesn't proceed from there, however, when I choose Fedora 38 (or W11), I can enter without any issues.
So now the TL;DR:
Having Fedora 39 already installed, is there any way I can uninstall Fedora 39 completely while being on Fedora 38, and then reinstall? If so, how would I do it?
Thanks in advance for the help!
So, I made my bootable EndevourOS image. I installed it on my secondary SSD, while I have Win11 on my primary SSD (need it for my job).
When I installed it I booted it up and everything was ok. A bit confusing, but ok.
Wanted to get into Windows again because I needed to work on something for a design (Adobe programs), next thing I know: my computer isn't recognizing my Windows drive...
It's there. I can see it on the "disks" app on EndevourOS, I can mount the disk and even see my files in there. But it just won't boot.
Read the documentation and it mentions an "os-prober", that I needed to change GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=false in the etc/default/drub file... I don't have that file anywhere in my system...
I installed os-prober, nothing. I searched any other folder with a similar name and checked files... The only file with a mention of os-prober is grub.d that says "if GRUB_DISABLE_OS_PROBER=xtrue then random warning", but that is a set of instructions (i think), not the actual file.
I don't think I should have tried EOS/Arch when I've been learning Linux for only 2 days, can anybody help me with this? Thank you for any answers in advance.
Hi! Don't know if this is the place to ask this but, basically what the title says.
TL;DR: Where do I start if I want to learn programming and potentially end in cybersecurity? Would computer science be a good decision? Should I learn any specific coding language?
I am a designer but I want to expand my knowledge and learn other things, programming is something that I've always kind of struggled with but I'm starting to like it nowadays.
I am currently switching my way over to Linux from W11, I've been distro hopping and trying Ubuntu, Fedora (the one I like the most as of yet) and now I will try EndevourOS (I still am not prepared to try pure Arch imho). All this playing around on Linux made me interested in coding, using the terminal, solving problems, analyzing logs, etc.
My main question is: where do I start? I'm not asking what "the best language is" or "which gives you the most jobs", it's more like I need advice on where to start with the things I want to do. While using Linux, I've been copy-pasting repos, codes, commands, etc., but I sometimes want to know what do those even mean or what the hell I am even doing, I don't want to be a copy-pasting machine without understanding what it means.
I think my objective is to end up doing Cybersecurity because, for me, it's one of the most interesting topics. I've read that it's better to start with Computer Science and then I can go with Cybersecurity or if I change, I could go with Soft. Eng., etc
I don't want to just make websites or apps, and I think I don't want to do IT (the kind of IT where you just help other people fix their computers), I do struggle with mathematics but if it's something I need to do to learn these things then I'll do it. I also would like to learn how to use/build servers.
Just want to make it clear though, I will be doing everything myself, as I don't have any money to go to a college/university, so if anyone has free resources, I would highly appreciate it.
Thanks in advance to everyone who read this and is able to help/give advice!
EDIT - After trying everything there is, I decided to make a new clean Windows Installation and everything worked again. So the problem was a bad Windows installation. However, I don't know why every single game stopped working specifically after the prologue and not before or after, but it's fixed now.
Has anybody had problems with games specifically crashing after the prologue? It doesn't even throw any errors or anything. I can play the game and even leave the game open **for hours ** without issues, or even start the game again and replay the prologue, but after that, all games crash.
These are all the games where that has happened:
Dying Light 2, Baldur's Gate 3, Resident Evil 2 & 4 Remake, Atlas Fallen, Fallout 4, DMC HD Collection, 4 SE and 5, etc. The only games where it has not happened are Mini Metro, Mini Motorways, and Universe Sandbox (none of those have prologues)
Some downloaded from FG, some from SteamRip, Empress, El Amigos, sometimes I even download different versions of the same game and end up with the same result.
The only "weird" thing I did before all this happened was doing a clean Windows Install. And the only weird thing I've noticed is that Steam has been really slow, but still, all the games are pirated so Steam shouldn't have anything to do.
