Valedictorian++; I really enjoy this soap and scent. And the TI could not have been more comfortable. Very enjoyable shave today.
Is that soap in his new base? If so, can you tell much difference? I'm quite pulled towards his Signature (bourbon and tobacco) soap that's in the new soap base.
Excellent photo, btw. Love the precision of your arrangement.
Agree completely. When I mentioned the WS23 in the Shire AS, Ben was quick to mention that WS23 has no odor, but I’m aware of the cooling longer than I’m aware of the AS scent. I would much prefer the opposite.
I don't care for the cooling effect. This may be just a boomer thing, but I equate cooling with Aqua Velva, and there are only a few scents (e.g. Margaritas in the Arctic) where it is expected. Most of the time, though, I don't see it as a benefit. Back in the old days Aqua Velva was marketed for its refreshing healing sensation. This implies that your shave is so bad that your skin burns badly when you apply an alcohol aftershave. I have always thought that burning relates to bad technique, or sensitive skin, but was not a "given". I, therefore, have never seen the necessity to always use a menthol aftershave.

I'm thinking about using this soap, splash, and brush for AA. I like the idea of using r/Wetshaving-related items. What's holding me back is the WS-23 in the aftershave. The use of the cooling agent is very well managed and subtle, but I know its there. I'm not sure whether I want 31 days of it. I also like that Guerlain Jicky was used almost entirely by men when it was first released and then became a unisex sent well before such things were common. Something to ponder.
I intend to Friodom Ride and ride Headless for AA, but this DE shave was a nice change of pace. It takes me the same amount of time to shave with a DE as it does with a straight and my shave is less close with a DE these days. I never saw that coming.
Feather blades have always been good to me. I used them solely for several months before deciding to try other blades.
“Oh please don’t use this for August"
Now there's discussion of what I will smell like all of August. I have, many times, pointed out that for years I only used one soap and one aftershave. I have confidence that after Aug. 1, whatever I use will be ignored.
I read up on Koké when you first mentioned it, was interested by the fragrance description, but put off by the menthol. I'm glad to hear that it isn't overpowering.

Brush: Wald Nimbus Chryselephantine 29mm A1 Fan
Razor: F.W. Engels Special 5/8 Full Hollow
Lather: Ariana & Evans - Peach & Cognac - Soap
Toner: Thayers - Rose - Toner
Aftershave: Ariana & Evans - Peach & Cognac - Aftershave
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Too hot today for me to use Tabac. Peach & Cognac was a wonderful substitute.
This F.W. Engels is a great little razor. I really like the weight and balance of it. The Jnat edge had that light, feathery feel yet it removed whiskers effortlessly. Yes, this was another test shave. Here is the video.
Really not that many. I have done three, have a fourth that I'll do tomorrow, and there's a fifth on the way. AA is a great opportunity to start down the rabbit hole. I hope people take advantage of it.

Brush: AP Shave Co Lemondrop 28mm SynBad
Razor: Solingen Best Silver Steel 6/8 Extra Hollow
Lather: Ariana & Evans - The Undersea - Soap
Toner: Thayers - Lavender - Toner
Aftershave: Ariana & Evans - The Undersea - Aftershave
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
This was a test shave of this razor and the result was terrific. Everything you would expect from a Jnat edge. The edge was in very good shape when it arrived. All it needed was a minor refresh. I think this one was previously honed by @whosgotthepudding@sub.wetshaving.social . I hope I did him justice. Here's the video.
I don't use The Undersea very much. I really enjoyed it today.
