We had some threads about languages recently. To be honest, it's one of my favorite topics and I thought it was cool to see so many people talking about it.
So, I want to point out Lemmygrad communities I see about language for anyone interested:
Linguistics:
https://lemmygrad.ml/c/leftlang - somewhat active
https://lemmygrad.ml/c/linguistics - not active
Specific language learning:
https://lemmygrad.ml/c/learnchinese
September's Korean study thread on c/korea
Translation:
https://lemmygrad.ml/c/translation
I'm not sure to what degree other people here are interested in seeing more language study topics be discussed around here but personally I would be very interested in more activity around this topic, such as helping each other study, producing translations together (I know that's a big project), studying topics like language revitalization, language acquisition, etc.
Is anyone else here enthusiastic about this kind of topic?

Neoliberal processes take place in rapid compromises with political sovereignties of nations. The only unsovereign political space where neoliberalism is practiced today is Palestine, particularly in the West Bank, since the Oslo peace process. The portrayal of Islam in a certain light is essential to the success of neoliberal practices in the region. In line with this, Israel's official 2007 campaign, “Brand Israel,” saw millions of dollars spent for this propaganda. One of the central points is “pinkwashing” where Israel portrays itself as a haven for homosexuals while deliberately glossing over its occupation of Palestine. Israeli occupation does not distinguish between queer and straight. This phenomenon of employing gay rights as political strategy, and in this case anchored in Islamophobia, is termed by theorist Jasbir Puar as “homonationalism.” Gender is clearly an organising principle of Israeli repression and what needs to be looked at is whether gender is also an organising principle of Palestinian resistance. The Palestinian queer movement is deeply embedded in anti-pinkwashing activism and differentiates itself from Western notions of queerness. This article applies these crucial understandings to the current context of Palestine because it is a predominantly vibrant, contemporary site.

I hope it's alright to post this here, I've just been wanting to say thank you to people working on ProleWiki. From people who are quickly creating many of the needed pages to people who are filling in stubs with more information and people making sure things are well-categorized, edit: and the people making translations!, I'm excited watching the project grow and appreciate the work people are putting into it.
This is something I have been thinking about trying to do, on a few topics I know enough about. My thought was to create copy-pasteable posts that are somewhat short and give an explanation of (for example) verifiable historical facts, including "reputable" sources (e.g. the well-documented mouths of U.S. officials telling on themselves), in a neutral and informative tone (so they can be used in a wide variety of conversations), and with such "reputable" and established information that they cannot be "debunked". Such pieces of writing could also be printed in pamphlet form if they are short enough.
I was thinking of posting them on ProleWiki (which has a section for user-written Essays) so they can be easily accessible for people to copy-paste with linked sources when they need it.
I'm sure other people have done this, I mean I know for a fact that people make master posts for people to use in exactly this way. I just thought it would be good to try and create a little series of them with a fairly uniform length and style and design them to be easy to alter (like if you need to add/subtract/re-word information in the context of your conversation).
One reason for wanting to do this is that it takes a lot of energy to answer common questions and debunk common myths and a lot of people struggle to find the time to do this. It's also extra difficult if a conversation gets emotional and heated. If on top of dealing with that you are trying to compose a clear and well-sourced impromptu essay to inform the audience watching the conversation, it can become too much work for one person to do in a reasonable amount of time. So I want to create a somewhat uniform resource on various topics to help people in that situation so they don't have to be spinning a bunch of plates while communicating with people who can simply lie or repeat imperialist talking points with zero effort. (When talking with a bad-faith conversant, the info would be for the benefit of the audience; when talking with a good-faith conversant, the info is for everyone's benefit).
Anyway, such a resource could also be adapted to physical pamphlet form, too. And again I think using primarily liberal-friendly sources would work well for something like that. I am by no means opposed to more radical types of pamphlets, this would just be one type of pamphlet that I think could serve a good all-purpose function.
Posting this here because I think it seems to fit this community's topic and I want to know if this sounds like a good idea or if someone has made more progress on such a project than I am aware of.
