have you considered though that spamming them with replies is much funnier and a participatory group activity that everyone can take part in collectively while downvotes are silent, don't annoy them, and fail to build collective cohesion?
In the 'grad, what seems to happen a lot is that one person carries the torch of arguing seriously, and the rest dunk and downvote. I think it promotes a kind of social cohesion!
