He may have less than a year, as Parliament returns and his Party's conference looms, to persuade voters of his case - which he has scarcely even begun to make.

After sharing the article from the London Economic about possible votes of no confidence in Mr Sunak, this is what I find on ConHome this morning:

“There comes a point in the electoral cycle when voters have simply had enough – and their cry is “kindly leave the stage”. Every bit of good news, such as the sensational upgrading of Britain’s post-Covid growth figures, is met by quibbles and qualifications that, for some reason, never greeted the bad.”

These guys are spinning so hard I want to make a joke about harnessing that motion for electricity generation.

The conditions for a Labour government are set. Hopefully the Tories retreat to a much smaller party for a few governments and moderate more centrist conservatives find a home in a modern centrist Labour under Keir rather than what was feared back in 2014 a loss of members to UKIP.

As much as there is bleating from Tory nutters about the centre of their party I'm convinced there's also massive frustration from the centre that they share a party with them lot.

Being on the fringe (Left or Right) is not good. Let's hope Keir understands and harnesses this.

I find it interesting that the argument about splits in the left is always held up as a reason why Labour hasn’t been in power more often in the last century. But actually, the split in the right has totally destroyed this country and allowed entirely talentless and inappropriate people to cuckoo their way into Downing Street.

In my dreams I see the SNP becoming the second largest party and the entire destruction of what remains of the Tory party.

Edit - SNP will likely suffer a loss to Labour, increasing Starmers position considerably. So you can’t have both things

There were plenty of us in England that said we wish Sturgeon was trying to make a new party for the whole of the UK. She was one of the most competent politicians the UK has seen for a long time. Just a shame she was only there to remove Scotland from the UK. Parliament really could do with someone who is not afraid to break the norms for a better system. Removing FPTP being the biggest one.
