OOoooooohhhhh noooooooo everyone on Hexbear is getting flashbacks to the BRICS anime waifu struggle session again
All the hilariously bad takes got deleted. The other problem is that most of it was super irony poisoned riffing on the joke so it's scattered all over the place, if you make an account on hexbear and search 'BRICS', besides news articles you'll see a whole bunch of pictures of anime girls 5 people/objects/abstract shapes standing next to each other
My favorite part was "how could Russia be blonde and blue-eyed, that's white supremacist!" lol
One thing that federation has been good for is in reminding us that there are people with much worse takes than each other.
I don't think I am particularly bad with computers but to try browsing through federated instances from Lemmygrad makes me feel like a very old man with cataracts and lumbago. I know I can post in Hexbear but browsing the instance from Lemmygrad already eludes me.
you just append @hexbear.net to the comm name. like hexbear.net/c/videos@hexbear.net. the search will also turn up stuff from hexbear if you set it to All.
When I first saw that our employer and dear leader, President Xi Jinping of China, had found the post where we were engaged in vigorous debate over whether or not a group of anime girls were, "too sexy," I was a little bit worried he was going to reprimand us for getting sidetracked from our assigned mission of destroying the West.
Instead, he offered some really insightful and nuanced commentary on the matter that completely reframed how I saw the issue, and made me realize just how important that question is to the establishment of global communism.
assigned mission of destroying the West
Indeed, comrade. Do not forget that simply destroying the West cannot ever be our mission, as it may result in planetary destruction instead of global communism.
I work for a pharma company that contracts manufacturing for other companies and some of our clients get in a tizzy when one of our supplies says they are opening a new facility in a BRICS country. Some straight up say they refuse to use material from them. All I can think is "well good luck getting materials for your products then." lol. They act like it's a quality thing and knowing how western regulations are I'm pretty sure BRICS has stronger regulations at this point.
I think at this point is basically impossible. If I recall correctly most planes use some metal that is mostly produced in Brazil and then they also produce a lot of the world's livestock feed.
They will just pay more to buy it from a third country that just repacks the goods from the BRICS
Yeah, but that means that they can never do some genocidal bloqueo like they did to Cuba by also blocking anything that relies on those materials. And considering Cuba seems to want to join, that's a very good sign.
"the brics won't do much to American dollar"
Uhhh noo? Can't you see this drawing here, brics are a bunch of hot women and they will clearly smash usonia duh
Isn't this format based off of a racist porn "meme"? Why use it?
To be clear I'm not talking about the characters themselves, they're cool, I'm talking about the format/set up. Surely there's a better way to illustrate the point.
It is based off of that meme. While I don't think the racism transfers to this version, the implied sexual violence is still there.
It's 5 people behind a couch where 1 person is sitting, I understand you view it as racist because where the original is from but literally nobody else think of it that way.
It's literally the exact same couch photoshopped into the picture. The porn sites watermark is still in the corner of the image. Whoever made the meme is clearly aware of the original.
I am just not a fan of this format. Or any of the porn based meme formats. Call me a prude if you want, but I don't find them funny.
I feel like the main problem arises from this comment, and your original one.
Why use it? Surely there’s a better way to illustrate the point.
I am just not a fan of this format. Or any of the porn based meme formats. Call me a prude if you want, but I don’t find them funny.
That first comment feels a bit disingenuous in that based off of the second comment, you already kind of knew why they used it, but you’d like them not to based off of little more then your personal tastes.
While there’s nothing wrong with your dislike for it, or it not fitting your personal type of humor; it feels much rougher when you try to dictate what others should find humorous, or use for memes, based off of your own personal tastes.
So again, you not liking it is perfectly fine, but just because you personally find something weird or unfunny doesn’t mean that everyone else need to as well.
I'm not saying they're not aware of the original, I am too, I'm saying it doesn't matter and it's weird to be upset about it, I've never seen this happen before
I am just not a fan of this format.
Fair enough
Yeah I know my stance on such things is probably unpopular and maybe considered weird, but I just thought it was worth sharing. Because I find it weird how these meme formats proliferate.
Thank you for engaging and commenting constructively instead of being all mean to me or something lmao.
