We need more users named after planets
@Pluto@hexbear.net needs a dope crew

Wow, that's to scale? I had no idea the moon was 4 times the size of earth, you learn something new every day!
Well, we have @Ceres@hexbear.net and I guess @Red_Eclipse@hexbear.net
One's an obscure dwarf planet and the other is a "Blood Moon" (the type that, I guess, you read about in those evagelical Christian fundamentalist "prophecy" books I see on Amazon.com).
Also, I'm not officially a planet.
So...
We have nobody that's named after a planet.
when making my account i checked the available planets, and there is an account name for Venus (who is fairly active), Mars (not very active), and Mercury (last post 4 years ago), but none of them have a picture of the planet as profile picture smh.
also 'obscure' (but true)
Wait, really?
You're telling me that not only were the literal protests in the 2000s over Pluto's demotion done for a stupid reason (which was, ostensibly, Pluto "not being a planet anymore") but that the reason wasn't even true and valid to begin with?
HA!
the international astronomical union defines planet and dwarf planet to be distinct classes of object within the solar system, which means the official iau definition is that dwarf planets are not planets even though the word "planet" is in the name. but the protests were really about their definition not being a very good one, partly for that reason. according to the iau, for instance, exoplanets are also not planets, because planets have to be orbiting our sun in particular. there can only ever be 8 planets in the entire universe!
@Dirt_Owl@hexbear.net a dwarf frog is a frog that is small, but a dwarf planet doesn't meet the criteria for planet, so it's not one according to the iau.
i'm well aware that this is a 20-year-old niche nerd argument and you're both welcome to make fun of me for having a strong opinion about it.
I wouldn't make fun of you. We're friends, right? I remember you and I were mods for Hexbear, but I could be wrong. I was the first one to welcome you, I think?
Frankly
We can also have people named after exo-planets.
Honestly, I'm kinda warming up to this idea... and I'm supposed to be a cold planet!
well, my real name is Kepler 452b but my friends and family call me Toobie, does that count?
Meanwhile, we have Yurt Owl (couldn't find their actual Hexbear handle so I couldn't bring 'em here) and, I think, one other "owl" user named after you.
Hmmmmm
Frankly, if we're going to make the whole "celestial body names" a thing on Hexbear, it should be dwarf planets to, like, raise awareness of celestial structures outside the original eight official planets.
Plus, I like obscure shit so there's that.
Hmm, I wonder if anyone on hexbear.net would be interested in starting a sailor moon crew
