No, you might be a primitivist, feudalist, syndicalist, or any of many other ways of organizing society. What you adopt will depend on your values and how you perceive the relationship between people and capital. Ultimately the labels are helpful up to a point, because the application of theory, or praxis, will manifest in ways to meet the need of your time.
Just to get ahead of it, capitalist can mean both one who supports capitalism as a way to organize society, and one who owns capital. From context it's clear we mean the former definition.
I get that there are other types of organizations. However I was being a dick and saying that if you aren't for capitalism you are for communism. Obviously they are other choices but just for ease sake.
It's kinda like if you aren't this then by default you are this. Null hypothesis and such. Yada yada
After being told the "right way" to browse Mastodon, I started using hashtags and saw nothing but German and Russian language posts. Whats up with that?
The Germans are very organized and meticulously label all of their posts? Who would've thought?
Well yes, but it was chosen because it means marxist-leninist to them, or that is what they used to claim. Now they claim that it was chosen because it was free, as they don't believe in paying for domains, but also fmhy.ml was reclaimed because it was a free domain and lemmy.ml wasn't reclaimed supposedly because they do pay for the "free domain they don't believe in paying for."
So "???”
Yes but also they haven't been removed like fmhy.ml "because fmhy.ml was free" so what's up with that?
So it's all nerdy shit and porn?
I remember when the internet was all nerdy shit and porn. I'm not sure if OP is complaining.
Also make sure you're on an instance that federates with porn instances, iirc lemmy.ml does not, for example.
This is Lemmy .
So much Linux I had to block a fedora community.
So much NSFW I had to block cocks, sorry fellas.
Rest is good, I'm staying.
Wow, that's terrible! Can you tell me where you saw those NSFW posts so that I can make sure I block them, too?
I keep getting confused because my All and my Subscribed feeds appear to similar! I must be the hive mind or something
My instance's admin explained that those brief errors are due to the database deleting banned users posts in an extremely inefficient manner. Basically more growing pains because Lemmy never saw this kind of activity before
Well that's interesting. I'm honestly fine with the downtime and feel empathy for the admins. It's a small price to pay for non-silicon valley bro social media.
Also some of the best goddamn memes I've seen in a while. Seriously, it's rare I'll spot a meme on Reddit that I feel like reposting, but over the last three days I've found a good dozen on Lemmy where I was like "I have to share this with so-and-so".
I noticed that a little over a month ago, many of these memes you could frame and hang in a pop-art gallery and Daddy Warhol would be proud.
A lot of these people are people who made the effort to escape Reddit and all of its bullshit, it stands to reason they would also spend the extra effort to learn to use a privacy-respecting freedom-preserving OS. There are a LOT of computer nerds here.
I don't remember which community it was, but there was a trend of "cats in bags" earlier this week sometimes. My All feed was full of cats for a day or so.
There are so many communities being heroically held aloft by 1 or 2 serial posters. My favorite is !quackers@lemmy.world
