[Weekly thread] How is your week going? 11-12-2023

Some of the students I tutored are graduating and one of them wants to become a PhD because of me apparently. So that was cool to find out.

Announcement: I'm trying a weekly post rather than daily ones so that people can keep interacting longer. Let's see how it goes, if it's a failure, we'll go back to the previous version.

Good afternoon y’all! It’s been a beautiful day for me so far. I’m having to work a little bit harder than I expected at my job, but my job is easy even on the worst of days so I’m not too upset about it. Thankfully, my sister is home to help out with my dog! She gave him a bath then walked him out to see me at work as a surprise.

I put in a PTO request for a vacation last night, and it’s my first time ever doing something like that. Tbh I thought I would never get that privilege, I’m very lucky to have stumbled into the job I have now

Had a good amount of sleep, sometimes I forget how important that is.

My sister can be so cool and so thoughtful some times, and so childish and so controlling and so passive aggressive at other times. It can be very frustrating at times to live with her, but I also know that she's probably a better roommate than I might get otherwise, and that it can probably be frustrating to live with me at times too.

She hasn't always been like this, she had a stroke a few years ago and either the stroke itself or the experience of having the stroke had a pretty big effect on her personality. She also spends all day scrolling reddit, and I think she's kinda been taken in by their "every conversation is a competition with a winner and a loser" mindset (and I think that because I realize reddit trained me to think in the same way and I'm trying hard to de-brainwash myself).

Sorry for the vaguepost, I just kinda needed to get my thoughts straight and vent a little bit. How are y'all doing tonight? Anyone got anything cool planned for the weekend?

It's been busy weeks, need to finish a bunch of stuff at work, hopefully can get it done before I go for holidays!

I agreed to work an extra shift today, and the event we're hosting parking for is a Scientology event. I swear, one of them hissed at me as I rode my bike past them

Good, been watching Lord of the Rings.

So I was yesterday at a government waiting lobby. The stereotype for this places is to have crying children. The was no crying child, but there was a woman loudly watching videos of crying children.

It was kinda funny in a cosmic sense. Still, rather baffling.

I like the daily post format better. This way I have to re-read all the comments to find what’s new.
