My cat always loved to sleep in a freshly made bed. I always assumed he wanted the bed to smell like him again, but maybe he liked the fruity smell of my detergent. :)
One of my cat likes flowers. Whenever we bring home flowers he will come by to smell them and then hang out around them.

Maybe the peaches (small and furry) are close enough to kittens, so instinct kicked in and they're like "idk why but I need to protect and cuddle these things"
To be fair, Bowser loves Peaches more demonstrably, but they're both infatuated with the icon of her rather than her actual self. 🤷🏼♂️
For Mario, I totally agree. But Bowser is a king himself, so why would he fall in love with a princess just because she's a princess? I think his plans to marry her are rather for geopolitical reasons: A marriage would lead to a merge of both kingdoms, and the first born Bowser Jr. (who doesn't have Peach in his blood line) would eventually inherit this bigger kingdom.

Mario needs to save himself from the pointless questing at endless castles. Bowser needs to save himself from his own tacked-on pomp & patriarchy so he can love the tiny koopa inside his overlarge shell. The both of them have some work to do. Meanwhile, Luigi & Toad could use a fuckin' buddy movie. Just sayin'.

Yeah... I think this cat, like most, enjoys laying on random pieces of paper. Peaches just happen to get placed there also
My guess, probably just likes his they smell and/or feel. Bonus points for laying on paper that's not your tax returns.
