Oh wow! I really like the look of this! My only worry would be, how reliable the service is and whether I could download my data if it came down to it. I'll look into this some more to ease my worry. Thank you for the recommendation!
See in the pic, I have an electric kettle. I recommend having one. I definitely wouldn't be able to try such specific water temps without it. 😄
Some sellers will give you results of tests done on the tea. Others reassure you that, once you pay a certain amount for high quality tea from older tea bushes/trees, you can assume that the farmers treat the tea with care and have no need for harsh chemicals.
Be careful with the former, of expecting certifications though. Here is a succinct explanation of why that expectation can limit your tea selection, from Jeffery McIntosh, a tea youtuber. See point at 3:50.
Yunnan Sourcing (US & China sites) - for all types of tea, but also my source of puer
Mei Leaf - just the cheaper teas (still expensive) and samples
King Tea Mall (Etsy) - just samples, so far
Arbor Teas - bulk black and white tea I use for western brewing
Ok. I haven't ordered from them before. Looks like good tea though.
Good ol Jungle Jim 🤠
Interesting, I haven't heard of using a percolator for tea.
After looking into how it works a little, it looks like it makes a strong brew!
I'm here to get ideas myself for this. I don't have a great method. For a large enough group, I give up and use teabag tea sometimes, just steep in hot water and call it a day. 😅
I'm curious, why the gaiwan only for sheng puer?
Interesting, with the porcelain tea pot. I assume it has a spout, which may be more difficult to clean. What's behind your preference - aesthetics? I don't have a tea pot, so I'm curious. I've thought about getting an unglazed clay pot.
Ha ha, yeah. At my work, people sometimes stop by for tea, but they tend to bring their own large cup, as they don't like the small ones that I offer them. I have to pre-make 2 steeps just to give them enough. 😅
I've seen these a few times, and I like the idea, but I haven't given them a fair chance. I shy away from plastic parts. I wonder if there's an all glass design with a silicone gasket or glass stoppper, to avoid plastic. I'm already used to gaiwans though, and it's hard to beat the ease of cleaning those.
