True. Now you've got me thinking of ways to identify and prevent accounts from scraping data. I don't see any way to do that other than rate-limiting, which just delays the problem rather than solving it.
It seems to me that the only reason Meta would embrace ActivityPub is so they can federate and scrape our data from the fediverse. Not only would I not use their platform, but I would block my instance from federating with them.
I'm thinking of spinning up an instance for my community, and would love more info on how many users you have vs server capacity vs monthly cost.

Coming from Windows, I'm surprised you didn't stick with Mint. If you want Debian, there's a version of Mint that is Debian-based instead of being based on Ubuntu. Using that might save you a lot of grief trying to set everything up yourself.
Not saying you're wrong, but Tesla has entire teams of people devoted to managing Elon. Twitter was never structured like that, so the company was directly exposed to his every whim.
