What is the best game for the full Lovecraft experience?

Since I sucked at Dark Souls, I stopped following the sequels. Is it as action packed and difficult as Dark Souls? Because I‘m more the turn-based type of guy (Civ, Xcom, Darkest Dungeon,…).
