we cant do shit without china saying 'ok'. or really, china saying 'we'll take care of it' which they then never do.

In any case, it was the Western world and the US that has been posturing. They hold north Koreans under brutal suffocating sanctions. North Korea resisting this must not be condemned.
Because they have nuclear weapons. Imagine the disaster of the Vietnam war, but with a couple of USA cities obliterated by nuclear warheads.
North Korea would be leveled wall to wall with air strikes if this ever happened. And kim knows this.
