Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Pomeranian or Chihuahua?

Rhodesian Ridgeback and a Pomeranian or Chihuahua?

Is it possible to have a Ridgeback with another small dog in the house? My wife and I might be moving to a rural area and I'd really like to get a Ridgeback. But my wife really wants a Pom or a Chihuahua and I've read that Ridgebacks have such a strong prey drive that they'll chase and kill pretty much any small animal. Can Ridgebacks be friends with small dogs, or will it always treat the tiny floof like a chew toy?

Anyone else's dog hate it when you use your phone?

Anyone else's dog hate it when you use your phone?

I have a 1 year old Bichon Frise and she cannot stand the sight of someone using their phone. It's not even when she was already trying to play with you and you pull out your phone, she can be laying on the coffee table while you're on the couch, she'd be doing her own thing, but the instant you start using your phone she will walk up to you, put her paws on your knees, and do that little high pitched bark thing dogs do when they want something from you. She's not okay with anyone in our family using their phones in front of her, not just me. Does this happen with anyone else's dog? Is this a symptom of insufficient enrichment and play at home or something like that where she thinks we're not paying enough attention to her and associates phone use with that?

Could video chatting with my dog help with separation anxiety if I need to be away from home for a while?

Could video chatting with my dog help with separation anxiety if I need to be away from home for a while?

I tried to research this but couldn't find much information. I have a one year old Bichon Frise who is extremely attached to me and my family, and she has pretty bad separation anxiety (technically a pandemic puppy). Usually, at least one of us is home 24/7 thanks to remote work so that's what she's used to.

However, if we have to go away for multiple days, I suspect she won't like that. We usually drop her off at our relative's house who can dogsit, since they have elderly grandparents who are happy to also stay home with the dog at all times. The longest we've dropped her off for so far is overnight, about 24 hours, but we need to go away for over a week soon.

I'm wondering, would video chatting with her help with separation anxiety? I'm thinking we can arrange to put on a video call with us every evening, just so she can see us and hear us for a bit. Has anyone tried this? Do you think it helped your dog? Anyone know any reputable sources talking about this?

What is the best treatment for chronic dog ear yeast infections?

What is the best treatment for chronic dog ear yeast infections?

Our lab constantly has yeast infections that we have to constantly treat. I would like to know if anyone has advice on what medications seem to work the best for a chronic case of yeast ear infections.
