How does favourites work?

How does favourites work?

It is something I have not been able to figure out from U/I.

What I am looking for is a way to have two subscribed list. One containing high traffic magazines, like pics and meme related stuff and another to maintain a list of niche interests where traffic is low, but my interest is high.

The favourites function looked like may do that if I can figure out how to curate it.

How do I subscribe to a whole instance?

How do I subscribe to a whole instance?

My account is on kbin.social, but I'd like to be subscribed to every communit on aussie.zone. Rather than adding every community individually, can I subscribe to the whole instance on my kbin.social account? Like, self-federate to it?

Seems like a dumb question but I'm having trouble connecting a lemmy community to kbin. I'm trying to add [!webtoons@lemmy.world](https://kbin.social/m/!webtoons@lemmy.world) but can't seem to get it

Search function in a magazine?

Search function in a magazine?

Hi, just started using kbin. Is there a way to search for threads (posts) within a magazine (subr*ddit)?

kbin logging itself out all the time

kbin logging itself out all the time

I am always being logged out of kbin on desktop and mobile PWA.

On desktop, using firefox, if I stop using the site for 10-20 minutes, even if the active tab is open with it, I am logged out. Is this normal expected behavior or might I have some setting or addon which is creating this?

I have given kbin an exception to the rule of purging cookies between sessions in case somehow that was the issue. No change.

Never encountered this before.

Anyone else with same issue? Or no?

Is there a subscription only view?

Is there a subscription only view?

I want to have a main view that is exclusively magazines/lemmy communities I'm subscribed to. Is this possible? I've been fumbling around the UI and haven't been able to discover it yet if it does exist.

Question About Posting Images on Kbin

Question About Posting Images on Kbin

I posted a photo on kbin yesterday from my photo hosting service. I thought the image would hot link from my gallery so I wouldn't be using bandwidth from the kbin.social server. But it looks like the image gets picked up and hosted on the kbin server anyway.

Is there any way to hotlink from an outside host where the image will display in the post? If not, are there some general guidelines about image file size?

Please help with the basics of subscribing to remote communities. (Many ways to do it wrong, included)

Please help with the basics of subscribing to remote communities. (Many ways to do it wrong, included)

Alright I really thought I had cracked this nut, but some of these are still eluding me. I went on a run of subscribing to a bunch of remote communities and felt like I had really mastered the fediverse in theory and in execution... then I was humbled.

I'm guessing that the remote communities I've already subscribed to went very smoothly because somebody on kbin already did the hard work of finding them and subscribing, and I was unknowingly riding on their coattails.

The small community I'm trying to join is lemmy.world/c/pennsylvania. So far I've tried:

  1. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/m/pennsylvania@lemmy.world

    • 404
    • I assume this is because kbin is so far, unaware of this community
  2. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/c/pennsylvania@lemmy.world

    • I was pretty sure this wouldn't work, but I've been wrong about things I was pretty sure about, before.
  3. Pointing my browser to kbin.social/c/Pennsylvania@lemmy.world

    • I recently learned that kbin is unintentionally picky about capitalization in some cases. When I learned this, I REALLY thought I found the answer to my problem.
  4. Click the magnifying glass, search for https://lemmy.world/c/pennsylvania

  5. Click the magnifying class, search for https://lemmy.world/c/Pennsylvania

  6. Click the magnifying glass, search for !pennsylvania

    • I really thought this would work because I thought the ! is how you tell your instance to seriously go out and get something, even if it has never heard of it before. (is that just for lemmy?)
  7. Click the magnifying glass, search for !Pennsylvania

I am defeated.

Can I post to magazines on another kbin instance?

Can I post to magazines on another kbin instance?

New to kbin. I’m trying to wrap my head around how federation works. If a community develops on a different server/instance than where I created my account, can I create threads and reply to others? Or just view? I read everywhere that federation allows following across different instances, but viewing content is different than participating in a community. If my account is on kbin.social can I create a thread or reply in a thread for a magazine that is in fedia.io?
