Most people wouldn't let the first person they stop on the street sift through their camera roll. They want their achievements, failures, and little life moments to be kept sacred. So after a decade of airing our most intimate moments in public, the pendulum is shifting back. People are more selective with their communities and are reverting back to an old-school way of interacting. It's hard to know how the change will affect the online atmosphere over the long term — some evidence suggests the shift will create a healthier digital experience, but it also risks further dividing people into like-minded echo chambers.
The collapsing of US state-affiliated social media platforms' hegemony is finally upon us. They use these platforms for war (psychological warfare more than anything) and cheating, just like every other channel of influence, and working class people have had enough of being fucked over and manipulated, as well as being enslaved to doom scrolling. I've been patiently waiting for over a decade for this. Now, finally, people are pivoting back to high quality discourse and relationship building. We're also increasingly seizing the means of communication (think Lemmy and other equivalents under the AGPLv3 license), which puts the control of culture firmly in our own hands.
You clearly have not been keeping up with China's development.
Planning ahead and building cities for the purposes of already having infrastructure for an expanding population (1.4 billion already), and also making those new cities attractive enough to cause sufficient migration that older cities (like Beijing) can be re-developed without having to uproot massive amounts of people makes perfect sense.
China is unrecognizable now from 10 years ago, let alone 70 years ago. The speed of development is incredibly fast over there because the nation operates in the interests of the working class. Quality of life is reliably, consistently, and tangibly always improving in China. This compulsive, nonsensical urge to somehow, someway paint China as inferior to white Western countries is incredibly infantile with racist undertones, since the idea here is that only white countries (or their dogs like South Korea and Japan, two of the most miserable countries in East Asia) can ever get anything right despite having nothing to show for it.
Here, go have a look for yourself at what a successful nation actually looks like: Living in China YouTube Channel
The only thing China has to learn from Western countries is exactly what not to do, and how to avoid becoming a failed state, which they've all already arrived at or are in the process of becoming.
A non-white nation surpassing the West in all respects, while the latter stews in arrested national development and full-spectrum decay.
They have nothing more to say, really. China is physical and social proof of a superior form of governance by the proletariat. Hell, even a single video from the channel Living in China is enough to shut people up and shatter Cold War world views in most cases. What can you honestly say when the proof is just right in front of you? The narratives would have to become increasingly cartoony and absurd.. and they are.. and it's not working anymore.
China doesn't need the imperialist countries anymore. Too fucking bad for them. They don't get to be the masters and keep their boots on everyone's necks anymore. Their race theory is also shot to shit now, so they've lost pretty much everything they used to rely on to legitimize themselves.
American exceptionalism. They believe everyone owes them a red carpet, limousines, a VIP room and blowjobs on demand.
I'm going to relish every single second of the hysteria coming from those types as their hegemonic privileges wither away with the rise of China and the Global South.
Sanders and AOC Unveil Resolution to further waste everyone's fucking time and refuse to support the class interests of the proletariat in the 21st century.
The global south should start subjecting Westoids to the same visa application humiliation non-Westerners get put through.
. Realistically, it wouldn't harm the working class of the West much since we're too fucking poor to travel anyhow. Wealthy white people are the most common "tourists" from the West.
Gonna be interesting to see this whole situation shakes out. India pulled a Kashogi and it remains to be seen whether the Western blob sees India as being on the same level of strategic importance as Saudi Arabia.
I love the empire's splintering. There's cracks that won't hold forever, so collapsing relations from in-fighting serve to accelerate the weakening of the liberal world's hegemony, and I'm here for it
