Acting like it doesn’t work for some people is just ridiculous.
I'll just say it again and leave it at that: you need to spend some time in other countries. Not at a tourist, but as a resident. Your eyes need to be opened.
Those people are beyond saving. But hopefully it will convince some of the "I don't like Biden so I'm gonna protest vote for some joke candidate" crowd to actually take the election seriously.
American healthcare system is very good and affordable for the vast majority of Americans. Sure it sucks if you’re poor, but most Americans are not poor.
Taxes are not that hard to do. The vast majority of people get a single income statement from an employer and use the standard deduction. Could it be better? Sure but it’s not bad for most people.
This is just...
My god dude. Try living in another country for a while. You're speaking like an abuse victim who keeps defending their abuser. The US's societal infrastructure, including health care and taxation, are 50 years behind the rest of the developed world. Americans pay top-tier costs for bottom-tier society.
"Sure it sucks if you're poor" is the kinder sibling of saying "Got mine, fuck you!" Being poor sucks everywhere, just by nature, but the entire point of societal programs is to uplift the poorest and make it suck less, not to give handouts to the rich so they can say "Well geez, at least I'm not poor!"
It's even better than that, actually, because it also undermines one of the key fringe ideas that the alt-right is spreading: the independent state legislature theory. If the Supreme Court steps in to override Colorado's decision, it would preemptively utterly destroy one of the tactics the right is planning on: have red state legislatures deny victory to anyone but Trump despite whoever wins the election.
Considering that Taiwan has been de facto an independent country for a long time, its easy to see why "forever maintaining the status quo" is the best choice for most people.
Declaring independence from China when they are already functionally independent from China would just be kicking a hornet's nest. The outcome of a war with China would end in either a bloody defeat in which their country would be leveled and their freedoms taken away, or a bloody victory resulting in... the current status quo, just with lots of dead people.
So why would your average citizen desire anything but the status quo? They're already a free country, this question is just asking them if they'd like a war for the fun of it, or their freedoms taken away.
Except karma isn't real, and wishing something isn't putting anything out. It's just a wish. So you're totally safe doing it.
Why the fuck do people let Trump get away with shit that no ordinary person would get away with.
Imagine if we used this same bullshit logic for ordinary people.
"Murderers shouldn't be stopped by police. We should defeat them in polls."
"Car thieves shouldn't be arrested. We should let the American people choose."
Fucking dumb.
And incidentally, we already did that, in 1868 when the 14th amendment was passed. So leaving it up to the polls is ignoring both the law and the will of the people.
