Looks good so far! I've never heard about Propaganda in the Information Age, The Reactionary Mind and Bowling Alone. I'll probably add them to my list though.
Maybe it would also be a good idea to add some shorter texts as a simple and introductory primer? Something that's only a few pages long. I know a few if you would like some suggestions.
a fantastic resource
Not just any fantastic resource...
Probably the best resource.
Maybe creating a reading list for this Community and pinning it to the top also wouldn't be a bad idea.
I don't think uploading any videos will be directly supported at any point in the future as it would put a lot of strain on the servers due to taking up a lot of storage space. This would result in higher server costs for the admins.
For now your best option is to just upload your videos to some place else (like PeerTube) and then post a link of it to Lemmy. For example, @sexy_peach@feddit.de has already done this multiple times when uploading Factorio gameplay.
I'm actually quite pleased at the new influx of users! There's finally a good amount of activity and real discussion going on here, instead of just posts with links to articles with zero comments and no real OC.
Aside from that, I have enough faith in the moderators and the structure of the platform itself that there shouldn't be too much of a toxicity problem. Honestly, my own biggest fear is just that a lot of the new users here lose interest and move on, returning the platform to its earlier days.
For now, I just hope that the servers don't go down in flames when the 12th comes around. I can't wait to see how this platform will look further down the road though!
Your best option to avoid unnecessary data collection is to just use a FOSS server. Paper (Github) is a pretty good one imo. It's also super lightweight and has some really good performance tweaks.
Sounds pretty interesting, but honestly it just sounds like regular anarcho-communism to me. Maybe it's a good introduction though?
